It is a nice place here. You get looked after well. I like the food, always something I like on the menu. I like it when entertainers come in as it is a great atmosphere. Would like them to come in more though. Can talk to the staff about anything.

Crest House St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex
Posted: 12 Sep 2014 by Nina P (Sister in law of resident)
In the short time she has been a resident at Crest, my 92 year old sister-in-law has improved unbelievably in her appearance, mental state and activity level. Crippled with arthritis she has many personal needs but has regained the ability to dress herself, can move limbs to a greater extent and has found self respect and eagerness to help herself. Fantastic!

Sonya Lodge Dartford, Kent
Posted: 12 Sep 2014 by Yvonne Filby (Daughter of resident)
Our family visited several dementia care homes when mum needed professional care. This home was the only one that ticked all the boxes for us. Every single member of staff is caring and kind and are all knowledgeable with what is needed for dementia sufferers. When we visited to view without an appointment, the door was thrown wide and we were welcomed in, nothing to hide at all. We were very impressed with all aspects of Sonya Lodge and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who has a relative needing dementia care.

Himley Manor Care Home Dudley, West Midlands
Posted: 12 Sep 2014 by William C (Brother in law of resident)
From my regular visits to see my brother-in-law I have found the staff to be very professional and provide the residents with love and dignified care, with lots of hugs and kisses. Nothing seems to be to much trouble. A news letter is produced with input from the residents. My first contact with the care home was with the manager who in my opinion is a very exceptional person and a very caring person.

Bings Hall Dunmow, Essex
Posted: 12 Sep 2014 by Sheila Bearman (My mother was a resident)
Bings Hall is a very happy home with a great family feeling. As it is a small home all the residents get to know all the carers and vice versa which make the residents very comfortable and relaxed. I t also means that the relatives get to know all the carers and they become friends who share the care and love of their relative. My mother was understandably concerned and lost when she first went to Bings Hall. She was elderly and had Alzheimer's but after a short while she told me that she did not have anything to worry about anymore as all these lovely girls, as she called them, looked after her and did everything that was needed for her. She actually improved when she had settled down as the carers became her friends and she loved having these friends around her all the time and that stimulated her brain. She laughed a lot and made the carers laugh too. My mother returned to being a happy person again. Before she went to Bings hall she was worried and fretful every day and so was I. She was happy and therefore so was I . All her personal care was looked after in a most gentle and good way. The food was good too. Also I felt that it was my home for the time that my mother was there. When she sadly passed away the carers looked after her with love and great care. I still visit Bings Hall from time to time and talk to others residents that I became to know and see those lovely carers and the manager Maggie who I still hold in great esteem.

A good place to live. Got a nice room which is always tidy. I would prefer if my room could be locked at all times so other residents cant go in. Always has company and enjoy getting out. Although I like company I like the fact i can go to my room to be alone.

St George's Nursing Home Cobham, Surrey
Posted: 11 Sep 2014 by Katie Potts (Grandmother)
My Grandmother was cared for during the final few weeks of her life, at St George's. As soon as she arrived she was much happier, calmer and content. The staff treated her beautifully and respected her dignity throughout her stay at the home. When it came to her final few days, the staff were incredibly supportive and understanding. I couldn't have picked a better, more loving environment for my grandmother to quietly pass away.

Hurst Manor Martock, Somerset
Posted: 11 Sep 2014 by LI (Daughter of resident)
My Father has stayed at Hurst on numerous occasions for respite. He is always made to feel welcome and the staff are caring and friendly. I am always impressed by the way the staff interact with the residents, they genuinely seem to enjoy their jobs at Hurst Manor. The staff also seem to stay, there doesn't seem to be a high turnover of staff which I think is a good thing. The food has improved a lot over the last 4 years that Dad has been going to Hurst and a lot of consideration is given to what the residents like. I hope my Dad will return for respite again before too long.

Maycroft Residential Care Royston, Cambridgeshire
Posted: 11 Sep 2014 by Mrs Walker (Sister of resident)
On walking into Maycroft you feel a nice welcoming atmosphere with the staff very friendly. The rooms are adequately furnished with matching curtains and bed spreads. There is a nice garden where the residents can sit out and have afternoon tea. They are encouraged to participant in the afternoons activities, for example bingo, sing songs, and sometimes outside entertainers come to visit. They also have excursions in the minibus. I cannot fault the Care home or it's first class Management Team.

Mount Ephraim House Tunbridge Wells, Kent
Posted: 11 Sep 2014 by Hugh Redgewell (My mother is a resident)
My mother has been a resident of Mount Ephraim House for 7 years. I looked at a number of local care homes before recommending MEH to her. The home is well run with the emphasis on treating the residents with care and respect. There is a genuine tolerance of a few of the residents who can sometimes be a little confused or even difficult. The staff are always available and friendly to residents and visitors. My mother is quite happy and considers MEH as her home now. The building is old now and requires updating but the personal care aspect more than outweighs this in my opinion.

Walker Lodge Care Home Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne & Wear
Posted: 11 Sep 2014 by Smith Family (Relative cared for here)
I would highly recommend this care home for those who's relatives are suffering from dementia. The building itself will never win prizes for either it's location or decoration but please look beyond this. The care given by the dedicated care workers and nursing staff is beyond compare. Most of the staff have been there for years and care deeply for those that they look after. Our family were at ease knowing that our dad was cared for when we couldn't look after him ourselves. The loving care and attention given, especially at the end of his life, was second to none. Please look past the location and see the care that lives inside. I would highly recommend this home and the caring staff.

Bings Hall Dunmow, Essex
Posted: 11 Sep 2014 by Ann Elsley (Niece of (2) resident)
Whilst not a nursing home, I have had two aunts admitted for palliative care needs at different times over the past 7 years. As both were privately funded, we were able to find somewhere that could cater professionally and was personally recommended. We were strongly encouraged to consider Bings by family members of a previous resident; and although not on our doorstep, felt it was worth the drive for us to visit, in order for peace of mind and confidence of care. After being so comforted with the end of life care given to my paternal aunt, it was not difficult for the family to decide recently, that the best place for my maternal aunt was Bings Hall. The support of the local GP surgery and the team of district nurses has been amazing and the continuing management of my aunt's increasing pain is swift and effective. The home has strong support from the local hospice and it is refreshing to see the different factions coming together as one in her care. The staff are wonderful and we are always welcomed warmly at all times of unannounced arrival! Needless to say, we thoroughly recommend Bings at all opportunities (a work colleague managed to place her grandmother there) and sing its praises constantly.

I would recommend Trevarna as the care is excellent. Staff are always keeping me informed about changes that are going to happen and how my mother is. They are very approachable.
