Teesdale Lodge Nursing Home Stockton-on-Tees, Cleveland & Teesside
Posted: 36 minutes ago by Wendy (daughter of resident)
My father was terminally ill - constantly in and out of hospital and not receiving the care he deserved or required. However, we made the difficult decision to have him move into this care home and it was the best decision we ever made. Like many others I am sure, we had many pre conceived ideas of care homes and how the operated but Teesdale Lodge quickly changed our minds. The service and care they provided not only him, but his family was nothing but exceptional. I truly believe he would not have fought as long as he did had it of not been for the staff there. The staff provided around the clock care and were a constant source of support and laughter, making the hard days bearable. Many thanks to them...

All the staff have gone our of their way to help my Mother at all times, especially during the sad bereavement of my Father. They went as far as providing refreshments after Dad's funeral. The Care Home is always clean and bright and most of all accessible at all times. All the staff are knowledge loving and safe working.

Mill View East Grinstead, West Sussex
Posted: 4 hours ago by Sally Widrig (Daughter of Resident)
To begin with the home itself is of such a high quality and the rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated and furniture etc is of a very high quality. Very spacious bathroom with all the necessary equipment. Mum's room is always neat, clean and tidy. All facilities at Mill View are excellent. Everywhere is spotlessly clean, bright and cheerful. From what I have seen and experienced myself the food is excellent, varied and well presented especially the cakes! All the staff, from management to cleaners, are friendly, polite, attentive and obliging. Caroline on reception is particularly friendly and welcoming. The carers are all very polite and friendly and treat the residents with great care and respect and are always on hand when needed. They all seem very happy in their work and obviously get on very well with each other. Bip and Jo are marvellous with all the activities that they do and I am sure put a lot more into their work than is required of them. I feel that everyone enjoys their work and genuinely have the residents' best interests at heart. I would not hesitate to recommend Mill View to anyone and I am very happy with my Mum's care. Mill View was not our first choice for Mum and looking back we wish that we had looked at Mill View sooner but we are now very happy that we have found her the best place and care that we could. It is lovely to know that she is interacting with everyone and she has certainly improved in herself since being with you. You are all doing a wonderful job for which I, and I am sure many other relatives, are most grateful for!

Normanhurst Residential Home Maidenhead, Berkshire
Posted: 19 May 2013 by Patricia Nash (daughter of residents)
I feel strongly that the staff at Normanhrst do a wonderful, caring service for my parents. My dad has dementia and has become quite difficult to handle but I know he is always treated with kindness and respect. I live in America so it has been very important to know that the staff are always kind and loving in all circumstances and I know they have been very supportive of my mother. Their rooms are homey and the food is plentiful, augmented by fresh fruit and snacks. My mother was ill recently and a staff member spent time spoon feeding her and encouraging her with whatever food she fancied until she gained back her appetite. I highly recommend Normanhurst and the staff.

ESMI Weekend Day Service Stockport, Greater Manchester
Posted: 18 May 2013 by Claire Carr (Family friend)
My Female close friend has been attending this day centre for the past 6 months, at first we all believed that it would be the stereotypical care home that automatically comes to mind, and honestly were apprehensive in sending her there. However the family and other close friends that help to care for this lady all decided that for our health and wellbeing, it was something we had to do on a weekly basis. We met with the Manageress and straight away she put us at ease, the place was lively, very noisy (lots of laughing) and not a TV in the centre of the room!! The staff made us feel welcome, as if we had known them all forever, they are real people not putting on airs and graces to please us, and quite honestly that was refreshing!! One male member of staff was particularly welcoming, he was funny, kind of made you feel at home and safe. Our friend was still unsure and was adamant that she would hate it and that although she would try it, she most definitely was not coming back! WELL.....We waited on tenterhooks all day expecting to go back to collect her and feel her full wrath!! Quite the opposite... She was screaming with laughter, had had wonderful food (and plenty of it) was enjoying the good company of other people in the same situation, who could laugh off their "forgetfulness" and natter about the good ole' days! Well like I said that was 6 months ago and she has never missed a single day, she even attends both days at the weekends and has pencilled herself in for all the bank holidays too!! The staff go to great lengths to learn as much as possible about the people they care for, and seem to show a genuine interest in family news etc. My friend recently became a great grandmother and couldn't wait to show off the new arrival at the centre, the staff knew all about the baby and asked every week how baby was doing. Birthdays are particularly special, a lady at the centre turned 100 a couple of weeks ago and they had a huge cake specially made, balloons, sashes for the birthday girl, table decorations the works!!! This is truly a wonderful place and I cannot stress enough how genuine all the staff are. If you are looking for somewhere your loved one can go, to be safe, cared for, happy and laughing, then look no further I promise you will not be disappointed.

Ancaster House Crieff, Perth & Kinross
Posted: 18 May 2013 by Brendan Quin (son of resident)
Having perused a number of other homes within the area I felt that Ancaster House offered the best option in meeting our needs. The manager and staff are very friendly and caring and try their best to accommodate each individual. Every effort is made to help residents and their visitors feel relaxed, the emphasis being they want everyone to feel that Ancaster is their home (not a care home). As a frequent visitor the homebaking goes down a treat! Overall I would recommend Ancaster to anyone looking for this kind of facility. Ongoing improvements to the facilities also help the overall feeling of the home.

Tolson Grange Huddersfield, West Yorkshire
Posted: 17 May 2013 by Mary Smith (daughter of prospective customer)
When I visited Tolson grange, I immediately felt welcomed by the staff and the warm atmosphere of the home. I was reassured by staff about my fears of care homes and all my questions were answered. I found the home to be nicely decorated. I enjoyed watching the residents interacting through activities and the bedrooms were lovely and spacious. I also liked the sensory room they have which I could see Mum spending a lot of time in. Prior to my visit to the home I read the CQC report about the home who were compliant and this was demonstrated during my visit. I would recommend a visit to this home to anyone.

Barchester Ashfields Care Home Norwich, Norfolk
Posted: 17 May 2013 by Helen (Granddaughter of resident)
My nanny came to Ashfields on Day care and respite care. A hard and guilty decision as it is to allow your family member to go into a care home, but Ashfields makes that decision much easier. I went away knowing that my nanny had the best care and care that she needed. My nanny wasn't the easiest of residents, always pacing about and stealing staff's lunches, yet, the staff members at Ashfields always had the patience and treated my nanny like she was their nanny also. I cannot thank Ashfields enough for looking after my naughty nanny, providing wonderful care in a safe environment.

Barchester Dudwell St Mary Care Home Etchingham, East Sussex
Posted: 17 May 2013 by Lesley Elliott (Daughter of resident.)
I have been a SRN for the last 38 years, and visited many care homes as a District Nursing Sister. Dudwell is by far the best I have seen. It has outstanding professional management and nursing care. The home has an atmosphere of loving care backed up by professionalism. My mother's care needs are met, and understood. Everything about her care is discussed with her and when appropriate with her children. But most of all Mum is more than happy being a resident.

Ashley Arnewood Manor New Milton, Hampshire
Posted: 17 May 2013 by Chris Nicholas (Daughter)
My mother went to Ashley Arnewood Manor as an emergency, that is more or less at a moments notice. She was immediately made welcome, made comfortable and was settled into a very well equipped bedroom. She has not enjoyed such lovely meals for many years and looks so much better than when she arrived. Danesbrook House Cardiff

My mum has been in Danesbrook House for nearly two years and is extremely happy there. I used to worry about her all the time but I don't need to now because I know how well she is being looked after, nothing is never too much trouble for the staff. My mum is 98 and it has taken years off her since being in Danesbrook. I can see her still being with us in 10 years time the way she is cared for.
