I find that my wife has settled down very quickly in the home and seems content and happy. The staff are friendly and show keen interest in their caring work. The home is a happy place. I am more than happy to have chosen Helen McArdle Care and will recommend it to friends.

Tall Trees Care Centre Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire
Posted: 17 May 2013 by Anne J (Daughter of resident)
From our first contact with Tall Trees the different needs of both my parents was understood and catered for. My father's end of life care was everything one would hope for. At all times he was treated with respect and compassion and the needs and feelings of the family were respected as well. My mother continues to receive excellent care at the home and is treated with respect and patience at all times.

Frethey House Care Home with Nursing Taunton, Somerset
Posted: 17 May 2013 by Christine C (Daughter of resident)
The home is bright and cheerful and my mother is well looked after. I am always made to feel welcome when I visit and any concerns I may have are always dealt with promptly. I like the large sitting room with small areas to sit in groups rather than around the walls as is found in some homes. Plenty of comfortable chairs for the residents. Activities good and 'one to one' excellent.

Pelham House Folkestone, Kent
Posted: 17 May 2013 by Marilyn P (Daughter of resident)
Although my father has only been at Pelham House Care Home for approx three weeks, he has already settled well and has only praise for the carers and management. His needs have been met and nothing has been too much trouble. He has decided that he doesn't want to return home (where he has lived for over sixty years) which goes to show how 'at home' he is. Pelham has a warm, family feel which is what I was looking for in a care home.

Greenways Court provides excellent friendly care. The staff are dedicated and diligent, always very approachable. The premises are beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. Melbury Court Durham
Posted: 17 May 2013 by Eric L (Husband of Resident)
Bricks and mortar - fine.
Areas and rooms - all areas and rooms are spacious, well lit, clean and well finished. All rooms have individual personal temperature controls. All of these facts would be of no avail if the staff fall short. A home's good will and reputation relies on quality of care. I am pleased to recommend this home as the quality of care is always good and sometimes excellent. Staff go the extra mile.
Problems - any problems that have arisen and reported were dealt with immediately.

Roden Hall Care Home with Nursing Telford, Shropshire
Posted: 17 May 2013 by Grace J (Uncle)
My uncle has been in this home for 2 years. He is well looked after, seems happy, he says the food is good, some food he dislikes, he is able to order food he prefers, his day revolves around meal times and food, it is important he is able to choose. The room is kept clean, it is furnished to a high standard but it is value for money. The home in general is well kept, inside is clean and warm. There is no odour as there can be in some homes. The staff are friendly and he likes them.

Jansondean Nursing Home Beckenham, London
Posted: 17 May 2013 by Jill Hunt (daughter of resident)
Mum spent the last seven weeks of her life at Jansondean. The care for her and us through such a very difficult period was fantastic. I was always made welcome and every member of staff that worked with Mum showed her the utmost respect and exceptional care. Words cannot express how caring they were in the last couple of days when every moment mattered. To see members of staff so upset at Mum's passing showed me that the difficult decision of which home to place Mum in had been the right one, as they had developed such a close bond with her.
Look beyond the décor which is a bit tired and dated and see such a wonderful caring and compassionate staff.

Freestones Residential Care Home Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
Posted: 16 May 2013 by Anne Frost (Daughter of Resident)
My Father had Alzhiemer's and moved to Freestones as his health had deteriorated. To move someone with this condition is a hard thing to do but he settled quickly and Claire and the staff made him very welcome. I was made welcome too and we became part of a big family. Claire and the staff kept me informed at all times about Dad and nothing was too much trouble.
They care for the resident and they care for you the family member at times when you may need it.
Freestones is a lovely care home and it does just that, it cares.

Sheraton Court Hartlepool, Cleveland & Teesside
Posted: 16 May 2013 by Number (Son of resident)
Following a stroke, we were advised my Father needed 24/7 care which was the last thing I wanted. My sister did the ground work, checking 'homes' for my Father. She took me to view he short list and I must admit they were the stereotypical "old people's home", not at all homely and smelling of pee!!
Then we went to Sheraton Court, we were made to feel welcome, a warm welcoming fresh clean establishment... Jackpot, it was a no brainier!
My Father loves it, the staff are excellent, through management to the cleaning staff all are very friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. Family needs are met with compassion and integrity and we are always under the impression that nothing is a problem............. And, nothing is a problem!
Sheraton Court is not an "old people's home" It's my dad's home!

The Haven Droitwich, Worcestershire
Posted: 16 May 2013 by Liz J (Daughter of resident)
My mother had Alzheimer's and lived at the Haven for the last twelve months of her life. During that time, she received the best possible care from all the staff at the Haven. She was assisted with her personal care in a very dignified manner and was always very well dressed. As the Haven only has 17 residents, the staff get to know each resident very well – their likes, dislikes and history. For someone with dementia, the continuity of care and support from the staff is tremendously important. When Mum lived independently in her own home, before moving into the Haven she was visited by numerous carers so there was no continuity of care and she found this particularly difficult. As well as looking after Mum, all the staff supported me and my family on our regular visits and through some difficult times. Mum had an en suite room which was always immaculately clean and tidy. The care home itself is very homely and welcoming. The meals provided were of a high standard. We had looked at a number of other care homes before making a decision and I would thoroughly recommend the Haven.

Barchester Ashfields Care Home Norwich, Norfolk
Posted: 16 May 2013 by Karen Lewis (Granddaughter of Service User)
My Nanny made us promise her that we would ‘never put her in a home’, but in the end and with reluctance we broke that promise to her. Turns out, it was the best thing we could have done for her!
We visited numerous Care Homes in our search, and many left us in tears as they were so awful, with disinterested staff that had no interest in talking to us as concerned relatives. Then we came across Ashfields and cried because it was so lovely! The staff had time for us, talked to us and made Nanny welcome and feel at home.
Working with an understanding of Dementia is something that Ashfields excels at and the home provides its residents with a safe environment that is stimulating to live in and lovely for us to visit her in.
We were encouraged to make to Nanny’s room, one that was personal to her and this involved a lot of effort on the staff’s part (removing fixtures and fittings) but it was all done exactly as we had requested it to be done.
Nanny is thriving, surrounded by lovely staff that truly ‘cares’ for her in every sense of the word. Personally, it’s not a job I would or could do, but the staff are always cheerful, patient, thoughtful, enthusiastic, wonderful and caring and I can’t praise them enough for the care they provide.

Normanhurst Residential Home Maidenhead, Berkshire
Posted: 16 May 2013 by Philip (son of resident)
Normanhurst provides an excellent quality of care with attention to detail and a highly personalised approach. The staff are very friendly and always welcoming at any time of day. A local pharmacy described Normanhurst to us as the best they dealt with out of more than 50 care homes in their area. Normanhurst has a 'homely' ethos and residents are always treated with great respect. We are very pleased with the high level of service provided.

The Clitheroe Residential Care Home Clitheroe, Lancashire
Posted: 16 May 2013 by Michelle Thornhill (Daughter of service user)
My mother unfortunately was served notice in her previous home as it had changed its registration and I chose to move her to the Clitheroe home. My only regret is that I did not move her sooner. The care is excellent and whilst the home may require some minor decorative improvements the warm caring atmosphere together with high standards of both cleanliness and care more than make up for that. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the home.
