It is a nice place here. You get looked after well. I like the food, always something I like on the menu. I like it when entertainers come in as it is a great atmosphere. Would like them to come in more though. Can talk to the staff about anything.

Vale Lodge Plymouth, Devon
Posted: 19 hours ago by Wendy Duwell (My Aunt is a resident)
I would highly recommend this lovely home. It isn't too big that people become impersonal and my Aunt is extremely well looked after. I initially felt guilty as Aunt didn't want to go but stay in her home. However, in the last few months she has flourished here and her health is so improved that we are looking forward to many years of visiting - but you have to phone first before visits - in case they are out and about in the mini bus having a cream tea here or a coffee there! I cannot praise the staff enough for the care she receives - it's great to have my Aunt back to what she used to be.

I could not have wished for a better place for my parents. My parents received physical as well as emotional care from a staff who gave one confidence in their abilities. The place is small enough for the staff to get to know residents well but large enough to offer the very best facilities.

Lakeside Care Centre Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire

Dad went to Lakeside as respite but ended up staying for 4 months. We couldn't be happier with the location, staff and treatment he received. It certainly helped mum and us know that he was being well looked after by people who cared so thank you.

Hassingham House Care Centre Norwich, Norfolk
Posted: 14 Sep 2014 by Nick Ringer (Son of Resident)
After looking around a number of care homes in the area for my father, and also trying Hassingham House for respite. There was no question where dad was going to end up when the tough decision came. The management Sally and Becky were very helpful, thoughtful and caring whilst we were trying to get dad placed. Nothing seems to be to much of an issue for the staff. For example my dad needed attending to 2 whilst we were visiting him in the space of 30 mins, this was no trouble at all for Ruth, Karen and Julie. You are always offered refreshments when visiting by Beth, Shaun and Luke. All in all I would have no issues if my children were to book me a place now for later life!

Vale Lodge Plymouth, Devon
Posted: 14 Sep 2014 by Andrew Burrell (Sheree, Martin and their team look after my mother)
My mother's brother Jack and I selected Vale Lodge after my father passed in 2006 and it was clear my mother could no longer cope living in her own home even with help. Sheree, Martin, the team and their facilities seemed ideal for my mother's needs. This has been borne out since with a high degree of professionalism, close attention to my mother's complex needs and pragmatism in finding the best approach to her care. I have been very satisfied with my relationship with Vale Lodge, their transparency and approach and as such would recommend others who feel a homely and personal approach is what they require. My mother is happy living here.

Stone House Nursing Home Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
Posted: 14 Sep 2014 by Graham Hunt (My mother is a resident)
Stone House always looks fresh and welcoming. The staff are truly caring and we feel Mum is safe and well cared for. When mum had DVT, shortly after entering Stone House in April of this year, the nursing staff were able to save us several hospital visits because of their expertise and the onsite medical facilities. Meals are very good and the dining room is elegant. The feel of the place is more country house hotel than care home. Mum's room is lovely and always looks pristine.

My father recently stayed at Belmont Castle for 6 weeks respite care. I can't thank Juanita and her team enough for their exceptional care, warmth and kindness. They really have made Belmont Castle a homely environment. My father flourished under their care and his family and friends were made so welcome when visiting. Belmont Castle is a very special place, the standard of care is exemplary, the staff patient, kind and caring. My dad is looking forward to his next stay.

Rosemary Lodge Residential Home Antrim, County Antrim
Posted: 14 Sep 2014 by Maureen Paige (Daughter of resident)
My Mum has now been a resident of Rosemary Lodge for the last three years. She is 93 years of age and limited what she can actually do for herself. She depends on a rotator to get around. I have always found the staff very friendly and helpful, always willing to have a word with you no matter what time of the day you arrive. Rosemary Lodge is always clean and tidy and you are never aware of any undesirable smells. The dining area is always welcoming looking and the variety of food is very good. Frequent drinks are served to the residents throughout the day which can also be taken in their rooms if preferred. Activities to stimulate are held on various days. The residents seem to be very happy and content. Naturally when my Mum had to go into care I was very concerned with stories heard in the press, but I must say I have never found any concerns and as I said earlier the staff could not be more helpful or friendly.

Wray Common Nursing & Residential Home Reigate, Surrey

My elderly father, who suffered with late stage dementia, spent the last 2 weeks of his life at the nursing home. Our family could not have asked for better care for him and he was treated with the utmost respect and consideration. The staff, especially the matron and the nurses, were very helpful, kind and supportive to us. We would highly recommend this nursing home.

Callands Care Home Warrington, Cheshire
Posted: 13 Sep 2014 by Clare Boothman (Granddaughter of resident)
My grandmother was admitted here several weeks ago after a spell in hospital and an horrific experience at another care home. As a palliative patient we expected her not to be with us for very much longer, and were preparing ourselves for having to say goodbye. Thanks to the care and attention she receives from the staff, she has improved beyond anyone's expectation and above all else she is safe and the staff are constantly trying to improve her quality of life and they interact with her as if she were their own relative. Thanks to this, we get to enjoy this wonderful mum and nan for some time more. To know that she is treated by others with the respect, dignity and above all else compassion that we as a family give her has made what has been a dreadful experience something that we no longer have to fear. I cannot commend the staff highly enough, nothing is too much trouble and their care for us as her family is incredibly reassuring. I would have no hesitation to refer anyone to this home.

Grant House Care Home Grantown-on-Spey, Highland
Posted: 13 Sep 2014 by JACQUELINE/JEREMY WATSON (SON/DAUGHTER-IN-LAW TO PAST RESIDENT)
Nesta[Agnes] very much enjoyed her stay at Grant House and requested that she move to Grant House when she knew she was unable to manage living on her own. She loved the staff and her care that she received. She was self funding. She adored Scotland-she was born a Non identical twin to an Aberdeen family [her father was The Rev.Westland-Rose] on Christmas Eve 1914. As her family we know that she and her friends Inez and the Pountneys also past residents from Grantown would very much wish that you remain part of Great Britain. God bless Janet,Jackie, and all the staff and management at Grant House -we miss you all and hope that you are all keeping well. Warmest wishes from,Jeremy/jackie Watson - Capel-le-Ferne Folkestone Kent.

Chevington Lodge Bungay, Suffolk
Posted: 13 Sep 2014 by Peter & Daryl McCaw (son & daughter in law to resident)
Our mother/mother in law resided at Chevington Lodge for the final 18 months of her life. The home is clean bright and welcoming with fresh food cooked daily. Communication with Management is excellent and all Staff are fully trained, helpful and friendly. Mother was able to celebrate her 90th and 91st birthday with family and fellow residents in the largest Lounge with decorations, entertainment and cake all with the co-operation of the Staff. Mother had dementia and Parkinson's and as her condition deteriorated her specialized needs were met and every support given to her and family members. This is a Care Home that knows it's job and does it to the highest standard. We will miss our regular visits and give Chevington Lodge the highest possible recommendation.

Holly House Kettering, Northamptonshire
Posted: 13 Sep 2014 by Derrick Green (Son of resident)
Both my parents were residents in Holly House and my father still remains there. The overall atmosphere in Holly House is of a gentle, comfortable hotel. All staff are happy, caring, considerate, professional, welcoming, supportive, respectful and concerned about the residents' well being and comfort. The Staff brought my father back from the brink and now they have improved his health considerably to the extent that, he has even put on weight when before, he refused to eat. He is always kept clean with clean clothes and swiftly attended to if necessary. My mother spent her last months in Holly House being comforted and well cared for in complete safety. All residents are treated with dignity and good humour and family members always made welcome. I am happy to have my father in their care.

Arboretum Nursing Home Walsall, West Midlands
Posted: 12 Sep 2014 by Emma Pritchard (daughter of resident)
My father was cared for by the Arboretum Nursing Home during the end stages of his life due a brain tumour. Every member of staff was pleasant, caring and compassionate from the nurses, carers, kitchen staff to the cleaners. The nurses were incredibly attentive as my dad needed close monitoring at the end of his life and they were timely and helped my dad to have a very peaceful and comfortable death. The carers would go above and beyond to make sure I was ok especially as I sat with my dad for the days leading up to his death, they provided me with meals, drinks and a mattress to sleep on along with bed sheets and blankets. The carers are incredibly knowledgeable and helped the nurses with ensuring my dad's symptoms were dealt with. The home is spotless and kept very clean by the cleaners. I could not have asked for any better care for my dad. My dad was only 51 years old when he went there which was a worry for me as the age of most residents is much older but he had his own room with a TV and I was able to bring in a CD player and even pictures for the walls to make him feel more at home. I felt I could talk to the staff about anything and felt very supported. They kept me well informed of my dad's condition at all times and respected my wishes. This home is a 10/10!!

My mother has been in Oakdale Lodge since October 2014 with mixed dementia/alzheimers. The Manager and her staff are all very caring and friendly, and look after mum very well. They also have a very good activities co-ordinator who is always devising things for the residents to do. the staff are all approachable if you wish to ask about anything. The atmosphere is very relaxed, homely and comfortable and the family are all happy that she is settled in a lovely environment with people who care about her. We couldn't ask for more.

Glebe Court London
Posted: 12 Sep 2014 by Roy French (Son)
I think what my mothers said soon after moving into Glebe Court sums it up best. She said "I wish I had moved here sooner and not been afraid of going into a care home." Since being in the home both my Mother and I are at ease over her safety. Before going into Glebe Court she use to have a number of falls that often led to her going to hospital. Since going into care the falls are a thing of the past. This give me and the family a great deal of reassurance. My mother is now 96 years old and she has never felt happier with her environment than at this time in her life. The staff at Glebe Court have always been friendly and always perform their roles in a very professional manner. Hilary, the manager, is always approachable and friendly and nothing ever seems to much effort.

I knew when I was shown around St George's that my mother would be well cared for but I didn't appreciate how well. From the moment I arrived, with my mother she was treated with the utmost care and respect. The staff were wonderful, kind and always mindful of my mother's dignity.
