Montana Care Home Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
Having spent 2 weeks recuperating from a heart operation 7 years ago, when my father needed to move from his home after a number of falls there was no question but that we would ask Montana if they had a room available. Fortunately they had a lovely little flat available so we were able to move up some of his furniture to make a real home from home. The first thing that strikes you about Montana is the warmth of welcome from the sisters and all of the secular staff. There is the real atmosphere of a community at home with each other. The support, care and professionalism of all mean that as a family we are very confident that our father is safe, happy and very well looked after. Since the new cook arrived last year I have very good reports of the meals as well.

Laurels Nursing Care Centre London
My aunt has been a resident at The Laurels for a few years now and every time I visit her, she looks happy and always smiling. I'm very impressed with the staff, the patience they have is amazing. The home manager is very friendly and easy to talk to as he makes you feel welcome and always listen to any concern and deal with them straight away.

Richmond House Care Home Rhyl, Denbighshire
We are so glad to have found Richmond House for Dad. He lives in lovely surroundings with delightful staff. They are so understanding about Dad's needs and he is never lost or anxious without a kind word or helping hand being seconds away. The whole place is spotlessly clean and light and airy. Everybody makes us so welcome when we visit and it has a really homely feel to it. We visit at all times of the day and we can even bring our dogs, if they are well behaved of course! There is always something going on too. Regular entertainment and activities if the residents want to join in. Quiet areas, if peace and quiet is needed. Excellent food and first class care.

Cedar Lawn Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire
For as long as I have visited Cedar Lawns (20 years), I have found the home to be clean and well kept. The staff are friendly and welcoming whilst at the same time professional. There is a warm atmosphere which comes from the staff being genuinely caring towards residents and visitors.

Manor Lodge Norwich, Norfolk
The decision to move someone into residential care is difficult and challenging for everyone involved, but we have been reassured by the care and support shown to my father by Frances and her team. The quality and layout of the building is excellent and all the residents are treated with great dignity and respect, and with an approach that meets the needs of the individual. We have been pleased by the range of activities that are provided; there is something happening each day, which residents are encouraged to join in. Our father has particularly enjoyed a day out to a local attraction, pizza making and a visiting country and western singer. Visitors are made welcome to the home and the staff are always helpful on the days that we take our father for a trip out. We believe that the staff team have made the effort to get to know our father and have put thought into how they can help to make this difficult transition easier for him. We couldn't imagine that there could be anywhere better - certainly the other care homes that we visited when trying to find the right place for him fell short of the standards of care at Manor Lodge.

The Beeches Care Home Dunfermline, Fife
My Best Friend's Husband spent the last six months of his life at The Beeches. He suffered with Parkinson's and Vascular Dementia and the staff looked after him as though he was one of their own relatives. He had a very comfortable, well furnished private room with an en-suite toilet and his own television point. The staff made sure that he was well fed with nutritious meals and plenty of fluids available to him at all times. He was encouraged to join the other residents in the lounge where various activities were held every day. In the better weather, the garden grounds were a haven of safety for fresh air and/or exercise. Visitors were treated in a friendly manner and were welcome at any time (and we were also encouraged to join in any activity!). I would not hesitate to recommend The Beeches to anyone looking for care for a relative.

Southfield Stroud, Gloucestershire
We were very fortunate when we brought my Mother to a care home, namely Southfields, almost 6 years ago. How lucky she has been to spend her later life in such a lovely, friendly, caring place amongst carers and other residents, plus Mags (the 'boss' she calls her) for whom nothing is too much. When we visit a cuppa and biscuits are brought to us, the home is kept clean, an bedroom with a view, and gardens which have been well maintained. What more could we ask for for my mum. I know that we don't have any worries when we leave her. Thank you to everyone at Southfields.

Richmond House Crieff, Perth & Kinross
Richmond House first offered Respite for my mother but as she is now 95, and I find I can no longer care for her. She has moved into long term care. The Carers are a wonderful group of people, as are all the staff. I have long dreaded this episode of my life and that of my mother's. The wonderful staff make that transition possible and in a way I now wish I maybe had done it earlier. May great thanks goes to them all. I thoroughly recommend this home. Their humour and good spirits are utterly beguiling.

Fives Court Warminster, Wiltshire
One of the most caring care homes I have come across, The staff are always caring, considerate, helpful, willing to spend time with the relatives and residents and I've never seen them neglect a resident if they have requested help. They anticipate the needs of residents with respect and care, and always treat them with dignity. The home is immaculate, tidy, frequently changing displays and has a very pleasant atmosphere at all times. The residents are included in a variety of activities to suit all their different needs and fantastic entertainment. The menu always offers a healthy variety and is pleasantly presented with all the treats at special times of the year. I couldn't have wished for a better place for the remaining time my mother has with us. A huge thank you to ALL the staff.

We were very pleased to find Chase View Care Home for my Mum, they made her last few months of her life comfortable with care, love and kindness. Mum had settled in really well. The staff were friendly with us as well always a smile and hello even if they were not actually caring for Mum. The home is well looked after and the food good, they catered for her special diet. Brompton House Residential & Nursing Home Broadway, Worcestershire
My mother went into Brompton House as she was no longer safe to be at home following a couple of mini strokes and many falls. The staff treated her with kindness from day 1 and I can now be assured she will be cared for 24hrs a day. The food is good, mum is diabetic but they make sure she does nor select anything to sugary from the menu which is carried. There are activities most days if residents wish to participate. The home has recently been completely refurbished and everywhere is light and roomy. Happy to note there are no obvious urine odours as I have noticed in some care homes.

Guisborough Manor Guisborough, Cleveland & Teesside
I cannot speak too highly of Guisborough. After the closure meeting at Gracelands Guisborough my daughter, husband and I went directly to Guisborough Manor (May 12th). We were immediately welcomed, shown a beautiful room; en-suite, lovely view etc, and before leaving, Betty's name ticket was on the door. They assisted with all the moving arrangements etc for the 22 May. The staff were especially kind, not least to me, for her short stay there. I wish it could have been longer, but she was already in her 11th year of alzheimers!! Thank you so much.
