The Review Score of 9.383 for Alexander House Wimbledon is based on 9 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.583 for Alexander House Wimbledon is calculated as follows: ( (63 Excellents x 5) + (45 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.583

    • Quantity Score: 5 Points are available for the number of 'Positive Reviews' for a care home / service. A Positive Review is defined as:

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.8 for Alexander House Wimbledon is calculated as follows:

      1. 9 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 9 Positive Reviews = 0.900

      3. (9 Positive Reviews ÷ 20 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.900

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. My mother has lived at Alexander House for 3 months now, and has settled well. The staff are supportive and we are very happy with our choice. Thank you to everyone for their dedication and professionalism while at the same time creating a warm and home like atmosphere as much as possible.

My Aunt was cared for with kindness and understanding. When she became less well and then entered the terminal phase she was able to remain in her home to be cared for by people she knew and appreciated. Her response to these staff members gave me pleasure and confidence that she was with friends.

My father Andre Gillieron, who passed away aged 95 last month, stayed there for the last nine months of his life. It was chosen because the immediate impression we got when we first visited, was one of a large country house, where people stayed, not that of an institution where people were “placed”.
We visited frequently, calmness, warmth and un-hurriedness seemed to always prevail. We were always greeted in a friendly and informal way. The staff trusted us and allowed us to carry out minor tasks for my father.
The care he received was in my opinion exceptional, in spite of various age related problems that occurred, which could easily have been used as an argument for his removal. This was never, suggested.
During one visit, we were invited to join a monthly residents discussion with residents, on how improvements could be made, even though we had brought a three year old grand-daughter to visit Andre.
These qualities can only be seen as a reflection of the management attitudes, skills and ideas that prevailed, and I must mention those directly concerned,
Rory Bellfield, Anne Moore, Susan Macarthy and Angelina Madeira.
I can’t say that the last months of my father’s life were particularly good, but he was happy in Alexander House, and was provided with a level of care that could not be improved upon.

Alexander House is far more like a home than a residential home. It has a lovely atmosphere, the staff are great and I feel my Mum's individual needs have been very well met. I would definitely recommend it, I love visiting my Mum, and feel very lucky to have found such an excellent place.

My aunt had been at Alexander for over 8 years. She was always well cared for. As a family we were always made very welcome and invited to all summer and Christmas events. She was allowed to stay at Alexander House until her death on 19 December 2014. During her last week it was evident how loving and caring the staff were. We will always be grateful.

Alexander House has a pleasant homely feel to it, the staff are attentive, caring and friendly and know all the residents by name.
The character building also has a lovely garden which is often used for afternoon tea when the weather is suitable.
The food is all freshly prepared on site and there is a good variety of dishes.
All in all a very nice place to spend your twilight years, after a settling in period my Mother-in-Law is now very happy there.

My mother spent a very happy year in Alexander House before her death. I am SO grateful to ALL the staff for their many kindnesses and good care. I was abroad when my mother died. Her last day was in hospital, and she was visited by one of the care staff who was OFF DUTY. She sat with my mother for quite a long time. You couldn't wish for better staff.
