Sheridan House is the newest addition to Brookdale’s residential care homes for adults with Low Functioning Autism who require 24 hour staffing support. Sheridan House has 9 single occupancy bedrooms with en-suite facilities and is located in Sandy, Bedfordshire. Clients at Sheridan House have difficulty with written and verbal communication, staff work with the clients and Speech & Language Therapists to identify which method of communication is most suited to the resident, i.e. menus, how does the resident choose what they would like for breakfast? Do they respond better towards a photo of the cereal or actual 2 bowls placed in front of them? The use of images is being incorporated into resident’s timetables and social stories. |
