The Review Score of 8.519 for Chesham Bois Manor is based on 10 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.244 for Chesham Bois Manor is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) + (58 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 119 Ratings = 4.244

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.275 for Chesham Bois Manor is calculated as follows:

      1. 9 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 9 Positive Reviews = 0.900

      3. (9 Positive Reviews ÷ 48 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.375

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. The residents suffer from dementia. The staff treat them all with love, care and respect. They have en suite bedrooms and accommodation consisting of lounges, dining rooms and conservatory with access to a courtyard area and patio which are pleasant and welcoming. Items of interest are displayed in the corridors e.g. wedding dress, hats, scarves, dressing table with contents, piano. Activities are offered and social occasions organised.

Staff always prepared to help - but seem reactive as opposed to pro-active. Staffing levels low at times. Rooms very dark and dreary. Decor tired and needing vast improvement. Gardens always well kept.

My mother is very settled and happy at the care home. She has been there for over three years. It is a fairly small home so consequently, you get to know the staff and residents. Staff keep me informed about any problems she may have and the doctor comes round every week. They have events and activities on a regular basis. Overall very good.

Staff are extremely caring and loving. Residents are treated with respect and kindness with great patience. Activities are provided most mornings. Rooms are kept very clean especially the ensuite bathrooms. Laundry is collected on a regular basis and returned promptly. Management is most responsive and informative. My mother is very happy here.

My mother died on the 16th June. Although I live 150 miles away, I was kept informed all the way which allowed me and my son to visit her a couple of days before she died. I shall always appreciate this, plus being told someone was with her as she died. Prior to her death, she'd been so well looked after and I was immediately informed of every little cough, infection or fall. Plus as I have a mental health illness, this was always taken into consideration.

Chesham Bois Manor has a very friendly and homely atmosphere and is surrounded by lovely gardens. The management and carers are all so very professional and helpful, making sure each resident is given help with their own personal individual needs. They made my mother feel very welcome and were very kind and reassuring to me. All the staff working at the home are cheerful, kind and helpful to both residents and their family and friends.

In choosing Chesham Bois Manor for mum (dementia) we were truly fortunate to find excellent facilities together with excellent caring and attentive staff.

I expect, in common with many people, mum never wanted to go into a care home. Eventually her dementia symptoms made that move a real necessity. The staff always have a hug and smile for mum, an encouraging word, activity or distraction.

With a secure attractive courtyard and wide bright corridors with comfy sofas conveniently placed, mum and her new friends are able to walk and interact if they don't wish to sit in either of the lounges.

If mum has been unwell, the staff are quick to make contact, arrange for a GP and have monitored her recovery carefully.

The Manager leads a great team. All of the staff, from the laundry to the gardeners know the residents by name and are happy to engage in conversation with them. Thank you for being a real "Caring" Home.

In my experience, the carers do their best and are friendly and helpful.

All I would say is that when I needed to use the wheelchair to take the resident out, the brakes didn't work, the catch to fold the handles back was broken and one of the rest catches wasn't working - so one or two new wheelchairs wouldn't go amiss.
