Made welcome on arrival from a long distance. We found the care shown to our sister positive and a joy to see. She had an accident a while ago when she tumbled and was taken to hospital where it was found she had a broken rib and was in tremendous amount of pain. The care given in the hospital was good, but not as good as in the care home. She was visited by your senior of staff i.e manager and she arranged for my sister to be returned back to the home, thankfully upon our next visit to your home we found a better sister in health by far, congratulations to your management and staff lovely to see that they care.

Very helpful- good overview of residents current conditions and needs. Resident given time to give her views. Good outcome- resident to become permanent within the home.

Since mum became a resident I have been impressed by the way staff treat her with dignity and respect. Whenever I have had a question staff check to make sure they are giving me up to date information. I am very grateful for the way all the staff care about and for the residents.

Staff communicate with residents in a friendly manner with appropriate humour but also with utmost respect. Senior staff are knowledgeable about elderly care issues and have informed/reassured me about what is to be expected and are supportive no matter how busy they are. Records are always checked to give the most up to date info if a staff member had been off for a few days. I have never been fobbed off. There is a real sense that staff genuinely care about as well as residents.

We were very happy at the way my mother was looked after and how kind the carers were. The only criticism I have, I feel that when an elderly patient looses interest in eating solid food they should have more liquids eg. high calorie milk based drinks.

My grandmother was placed into Trippier after a series of falls. She was there for 2 weeks for a respite period until they deemed her safe to return home. My grandmother had been to a few over the years for respite and we always chose the private care but since her social worker had arranged this placement, we didn't have too much choice on where she went. Initially as I stepped out of the car I wasn't too convinced, however when I meet the staff and saw the level of care they provided, my opinion quickly changed. The staff are who make this place, they are always so friendly and helpful. They were all so cheery and always made the other residents laugh.
In the past my nan would never venture outside her room, however I found that this time round she had really integrated herself and was always in the lounge chatting away to the staff and residents. I really liked the personal touch, everyone knew her name, what seat she liked to sit in (both dining room and lounge) and she wasn't just a number like some of these other care homes. Unfortunately the building itself was a little tired and dated which would probably put some people off but just goes to show, never judge a book by it's cover.

It is a very well run home, staff are helpful and kind. Rooms are clean and tidy.
When I telephone they try to give me a good description of how my sister is health wise.
As I live so far away I depend on them to find how she is.

My sister has lived here for 8 years and is well looked after, all her needs are met. I am happy with everything for the time she has been here. The staff are willing and helpful with my sisters wishes and needs.

My sister has been a resident of the home for a long time, we have seen the care and conditions of the home improve over the years. The staff and management are always helpful and caring to the residents, because I live so far away (180 miles) its difficult for my family to visit on a regular basis, management and staff always keep me informed. "Keep up the good work".

The staff here work very hard. They always do their best for all the residents, despite often being understaffed. Our mum is very well cared for, she is happy and well.
It would be nice to have a few more activities, but probably not possible due to funding.
All the staff are very kind and caring to our mum.

I really like Trippier House for a number of reasons. The staff are lovely, the home is very clean and my mum is very well looked after, she is very happy here.

The staff are fantastic. Always a smile on their face and extremely helpful. As a family we were nervous when mum went into care but the people at Trippier are fantastic. The care mum receives is fantastic. She enjoys the food cooked on site and has a varied diet. As a family we are welcomed by the staff and I feel we have a good friendly positive relationship with a similar outlook to mums care.

My father in law makes a number of complaints about living in Trippier House. Firstly the food is poor. It is. More variety needed. Secondly its boring. It is. There are too few interesting activities. Activities are aimed at a low level. There is a simple solution for example there is a social club over the road - residents should be encouraged to take part in its activities. The garden at the home is not available to residents for exercise. It should be. Finally the residents have no internet connectivity. This is poor. My father in law would love to use the internet for calling friends and relatives and looking up stuff he is interested in. Internet connectivity would also give the home a chance to reduce costs and focus more on care of residents.

From a two hour visit - good caring staff, who have good relationships with the residents. Cleanliness good. Meals (as I was there for lunch) good.

Application/compliance to monitoring standards in evidence (checklists for meals, medicines, displays on ensuring fluid intake, etc.)

It isn't a five star hotel category - more like a two or three star.

And I just did the maths on what they charge, vs. probable running costs, and they aren't a massive profit-making business - the charges are reasonable.

Plus my sisters who are both experienced medical people approved the place.

Mum is happy at Trippier. The staff anticipate her needs in spite of inaccurate information from the hospital after a recent stay! The staff are often creative when planning care to meet rapidly changing needs.
