Cheybassa Lodge

Been on Island for 30 years. Heard of 2 people whose parents were in and were happy with all aspects of care so when my dad became unwell I was keen to follow my thought of placing him here. Privately run, no 'silly frills' of larger multi-national organisations.

The home is 'a family'. Positive attitudes and vibes all the time, lots of smiling. Staff training is substantial and on-going. Daily activities covering a spectrum of needs, active positive encouragement and praise. Excellent cleanliness/food/staffing/space. Families always welcome whatever time of day. Residents forum. Residents taken out often eg church, coffee by the beach ferry, 40's tea dance to celebrate D-Day. Musical visitors eg ukelele group, choir, children from schools, theatre visits to local amateur dramatics. Overlooks rural seafront with clear views of public/joggers/Isle of Wight/boats from lounge. Courtyard garden calm and secluded with greenhouse, veg patch, flowers, roses, can sit out in both.

Cheybassa Lodge

I had not realised how difficult it would be to choose a suitable care home for my mother. Her health, especially her mental awareness deteriorated quickly making it unsafe for her to return home from hospital . I visited numerous care homes but just knew that Cheybassa Lodge would be able to offer the care and environment I was looking for. It is early days, but Lesley and Mike could not have made the transition any easier. Their open door policy is very necessary and all the staff are warm and welcoming.
