Review of Cheybassa Lodge on Wednesday 5 February 2014 by Susan H (Daughter of resident)

I had not realised how difficult it would be to choose a suitable care home for my mother. Her health, especially her mental awareness deteriorated quickly making it unsafe for her to return home from hospital . I visited numerous care homes but just knew that Cheybassa Lodge would be able to offer the care and environment I was looking for. It is early days, but Lesley and Mike could not have made the transition any easier. Their open door policy is very necessary and all the staff are warm and welcoming.

A lovely friendly care home. Smaller than most places and so a homely atmosphere with a sympathetic and caring ethos.

Review of Cheybassa Lodge on Friday 7 June 2013 by Rosemary L (Daughter of resident)

Even before my mother left hospital, Lesley demonstrated her commitment to her vocation in running Cheybassa through thorough assessment, openness, energy and enthusiasm. The family run home has more than met all hopes and expectations. Mum is now able to meet other people, socialise and enjoy a wide range of activities, some just simple fun and games. Everyday in a lovely lounge overlooking views of the Isle of Wight and Hayling sea front. The food is good and residents have a say in what they would like. Mum's room is freshly decorated with en-suite toilet and sink and she is able to include some of her own furniture. The carers are very well trained and actively engage all.

Cheybassa is a care home where elderly people go to live, remain connected to the world around them and have many opportunities to get involved in recreational and social activities. There is a real family atmosphere as every care is taken by the staff to treat each person as an individual and support their daily needs. Special attention is given to the health and well being of each resident so that they live to their maximum potential. This means that the general atmosphere is always calm yet upbeat, relaxed yet in control. My mum settled quickly and her general health and well being has improved, and most importantly she feels at home.

Review of Cheybassa Lodge on Thursday 25 April 2013 by Michael D (Son of resident)

My wife and I are totally delighted with our choice of Cheybassa for my elderly mother. The management are friendly and approachable and always make a point of talking to us about Mum's care over a cup of tea when we visit. The accommodation is modern, clean and light filled with direct sea views to the Solent. There always appears to be adequate staff on duty, day and night and they so obviously really do care about their clients. The food is home cooked, locally sourced with a varied menu. Quizzes, games and visiting performers are a regular feature as is the ability for anyone not feeling quite up to it to withdraw to their own private rooms for a peaceful snooze. The fees are modest and the care is exceptional.

Review of Cheybassa Lodge on Wednesday 17 April 2013 by Penelope O (Neice)

Cheybassa Lodge is in a splendid location overlooking the Solent with views to the Isle of Wight. All rooms are en suite and residents are able to bring small items of furniture and are encouraged to personalise their own rooms. There is a garden to the front with seats for residents and a sheltered courtyard garden. Visitors can come at any time and are always welcomed by the friendly staff. Residents can pursue their interests and hobbies as far as their condition allows. Cheybassa Lodge is accessible by public transport, a bus stop on the main Hayling Island bus route is close to the home.

The proprietors and staff are very caring and look to the needs of their residents. It's a Christian home.

Review of Cheybassa Lodge on Friday 12 April 2013 by Janet (daughter of resident)

I would like to recommend this care home, as my mother has been there now for a number of years. We have always found the quality of care very high. With a lot of individual attention given to each resident. A small and friendly place with a homely atmosphere.

Review of Cheybassa Lodge on Monday 8 April 2013 by Melanie H (Niece of resident)

I feel my aunt is very well looked after and the care the staff give is really good. She has a very comfortable room with plenty of space for all of her things. Whenever I visit her I am made really welcome by all of the staff. I would recommend this home to anyone.

Review of Cheybassa Lodge on Thursday 28 March 2013 by Denise Q (Daughter of resident)

This home is like an extended family for the owners Lesley and Mike. When my mother went to stay there they had about 13 or so residents. She had severe poor vision and so it is easier for her to get to know them all and also to find her way around, than in a large home, the staff are all friendly, helpful and kind. Lesley and Mike treat them all as one big family and regularly provide entertainment and outings.

Review of Cheybassa Lodge on Friday 29 June 2012 by Michael P (Son of Resident)

We looked at a variety of care homes over a 10-15 mile radius of Waterlooville, and did not get a "good feeling" with many of them. However, when we called and viewed Cheybassa Lodge, we were very impressed. We had found a "homely" rest home. The home is light, bright and fresh in a lovely location. The owners and the staff are all very friendly and we are welcomed on all our visits. It is our view that Cheybassa Lodge is "head and shoulders" above the rest of the homes we viewed. The residents are treated as "family" and "care" really does mean care.
