Fernlea is a residential home for ten people with learning difficulties, who additionally, may require support arising from sensory, dietary and mental health needs. It has ten single bedrooms, including nine with en-suite facilities, a large lounge, a separate dining room, three further bathrooms, laundry facilities and a large kitchen. Residents are encouraged to personalise their own space and are involved in the decoration and furnishing of the Home. Staff are committed to providing a high quality service and work closely with professional colleagues from the West Specialist Health Care Team and primary care services. Activities include swimming, adult literacy groups, drama, advocacy groups, cooking, learning for independence, keep fit, shopping, Gateway Club, music, sports, theatre and cinema trips and social outings.
