The Review Score of 8.218 for Elmside is based on 2 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.955 for Elmside is calculated as follows: ( (21 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 22 Ratings = 4.955

    • Quantity Score: 5 Points are available for the number of 'Positive Reviews' for a care home / service. A Positive Review is defined as:

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 3.263 for Elmside is calculated as follows:

      1. 2 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 2 Positive Reviews = 0.200

      3. (2 Positive Reviews ÷ 63 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.063

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. There are 5 Points available for the average of all ratings on users Recommendations/Reviews (Excellent 5, Good 4, Satisfactory 3, Poor 2, Very Poor 1). My father spent around 15 months as a resident at Elmside. During this time he was well cared for, treated with respect, mentally stimulated and above all happy.
Staff at every level were very caring, and his day to day carers especially were kind and considerate to him. The MHA ethos which places great emphasis on spiritual well-being was particularly appreciated by dad with his strong faith, especially the weekly in house religious services. But catering to 'all faiths and none' means that everyone has access to the same pastoral care.
Dad was kept mentally stimulated with daily activities such as group crosswords, music appreciation, carpet bowls.
Dad enjoyed nutritious meals throughout the day.
The home and facilities were kept clean and fresh, and although his bedroom was one of the smaller ones, it had modern fixtures and fittings and a generous en suite wet room.
Management kept me involved in Dad's ongoing care plan.
I could not have asked for a better environment for him.

Dear Chris

Thank you for such a heart warming review of the services provided to your dad for his 15 months at Elmside. Finding a care home for your loved ones is difficult at times and I am sure that your review will lend relief to many if considering this home.

I thank you once again and will forward your kind words onto the team.

Kind Regards

Deborah

My aunt has lived at Elmsdie for several years and from the beginning. I have been impressed by the service she receives; her room is clean and tidy. The staff are charming and attentive, and my aunt is extremely happy there. My father lived for a while in a home in Cambridge (not run by MHA) and it smelled of wee, he was left in his room with the TV on and he hated the TV. None of the staff knew his name and the food was dreadful. Elmside is such a contrast - homes need not be ghastly. Elmside is a shining example of how elderly care can be caring.
