The Review Score of 8.204 for Elmhurst is based on 3 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.806 for Elmhurst is calculated as follows: ( (31 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.806

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 3.398 for Elmhurst is calculated as follows:

      1. 3 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 3 Positive Reviews = 0.300

      3. (3 Positive Reviews ÷ 61 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.098

My husband has had Alzheimer's for the past fifteen years. I looked after him for fourteen years. I always said I would never let him to go into care. But, in the end I just had to let him go. I have no regrets at all. He is now in Elmhurst Residential Care. It has made a huge difference. He is always clean and also he is so content. I couldn't give him the sort of care he needs. I will always be grateful to the carers at Elmhurst.

Elmhurst really is a home that really does care. all the staff pull together and if necessary will cover for one another. Everyone has a smile on their face always. Emergencies are calmly patiently and professionally attended to. The standard of catering, the laundry, the cleaning are really good. I feel it would be good for the staff to be able to afford an extra carer in each unit, but I appreciate costs. Just a few more stimulating activities particularly for male residents would be nice. Overall it is difficult to give Elmhurst enough praise AND the very professional and thorough handling of the recent shut down was amazing.

My dad Charlie has been at Elmhurst for a couple of months now. The staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble, they always treat him with compassion and respect. We as a family had put off putting my dad in residential care, partly because of all the horror stories you hear about with residents being ill treated. But the staff at Elmhurst have renewed our faith in the system by being as close to perfect as you can get.
