Tarrys in Herne Bay is a haven offering an environment where the living is easy and the stresses and strains of modern living seem to vanish into oblivion.

Residents will welcome the peace and quietness of Tarrys where there is plenty of space to walk around, yet have their own space and privacy when they wish.

All rooms at Tarrys have en-suite facilities as well as television, radio and nurse call system. Staff are available round the clock and cater for all needs.

Meal times at Tarrys are leisurely and food is a passion - all is home produced and great pride is taken in the quality of all meats, vegetables and fruits.

Early morning tea is served in bed from 7am onwards and help is given with bathing and dressing. Breakfast is served at 8.45am in the dining room but if you are unwell and prefer breakfast in your room then it can be arranged. Morning coffee or tea or juice is served at 11.00am which breaks up the morning quite nicely in time for luncheon at 1.00pm. Lunch is always a minimum of three courses.

2 Private We provide 24 hour care, a range of facilities including personal care. Laundry, Help with mobility/eating and drinking. A range of activities including sensory activities which are patient centred. We aim to improve and maintain well-being and health, with the involvement of a multi disciplinary team. This Review Score of 8.560 is made up of a Quality Score of 4.944 Points (maximum of 5) relating to the rating and a Quantity Score of 3.616 Points (maximum of 5) relating to the number of positive Reviews/Recommendations.

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

        (For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

      The Quantity Score of 3.616 for Tarry's is calculated as follows:

      1. 3 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 3 Positive Reviews = 0.300

      3. (3 Positive Reviews ÷ 19 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.316

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. There are 5 Points available for the average of all ratings on users Recommendations/Reviews (Excellent 5, Good 4, Satisfactory 3, Poor 2, Very Poor 1). There are 5 Points available for the total number of positive Recommendations/Reviews submitted in relation to the number of beds at the Care Home.

  • Before 1st July 2015 carehome.co.uk only accepted Recommendations (positive comments only) and the Ratings were limited to Excellent, Good & Satisfactory. These are marked up as Recommendations.

  • As of 1st July 2015 carehome.co.uk changed from Recommendations to Reviews (positive and negative comments) and added the Ratings Poor and Very Poor. These are marked up as Reviews. My wife has vascular dementia, social services advised she needed care home attention and after looking at a number of homes, my son and daughter found Tarry's. My wife was accepted and entered for respite care on 12th April 2014. It's very hard being separated after 50+ years, but she appears very content once she was settled after 3-6 months, and now appears to regard it as home. She is active but has no cognitive conversation. The management is excellent, all of the ample number of care staff are attentive and treat everybody with love and respect. Its a great comfort to know she is there.

I really cannot rate Tarry`s highly enough. The care and love that my Mother receives there is second to none. Our family were really concerned that Mum would not settle anywhere other than her own home but Tarry`s IS her home now. We are so grateful to all the staff. There are regular parties which we are all invited to and the residents really enjoy these occasions. Nothing is too much trouble for Tarry`s and we are so pleased Mum is being looked after there.

I can't recommend this home highly enough. My mother suffered from Dementia & when she started hitting out at my father, her career's & myself, it was decided that she needed residential care & luckily Tarry's had a bed available. The staff were absolutely brilliant with mum & for the first time in years, I didn't have to worry about her & could concentrate on looking after my father. Unfortuately, mum passed away recently but right up until the end I was encouraged to visit or phone whenever I liked & I was always welcomed with a friendly smile & a cup of tea!!
