9.6 Dovecote View has a Review Score of 9.6 (9.606)

The Review Score of 9.6 (maximum of 10) for Dovecote View is based on 16 Review/Recommendations in the last 2 years. This Review Score of 9.606 is made up of a Quality Score of 4.606 Points (maximum of 5) relating to the rating and a Quantity Score of 5 Points (maximum of 5) relating to the number of positive Reviews/Recommendations.

  • The maximum Review Score for a care home / service is 10 and it is based on the published (including Restricted Publication) Reviews in the last 2 years. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

The Review Score of 9.606 for Dovecote View is based on 16 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.606 for Dovecote View is calculated as follows: ( (125 Excellents x 5) + (52 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 188 Ratings = 4.606

    • Quantity Score: 5 Points are available for the number of 'Positive Reviews' for a care home / service. A Positive Review is defined as:

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 5 for Dovecote View is calculated as follows:

      1. 16 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 16 Positive Reviews = 1.600 (maximum score = 1)

      3. (16 Positive Reviews ÷ 28 Registered Beds) x 2 = 1.143 (maximum score = 1)

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. There are 5 Points available for the average of all ratings on users Recommendations/Reviews (Excellent 5, Good 4, Satisfactory 3, Poor 2, Very Poor 1). My mother was a resident of Dovecote view for 5 and a half years before her death there in October. Over that time her mental and physical health declined steadily. I found the staff to be very caring to my mother's welfare and made many extra efforts to accommodate her declining health. She was always clean, well dressed and well fed. I was always impressed with how much the staff cared for my mother and how much time they devoted to her. Living in America, I was never worried about my mother's care which was a huge relief to me.

Talisa Challis, Manager at Dovecote View responded to this review on 03 Dec 2015:

It was an absolute pleasure to care for Mum for 5 and a half years, and we feel very lucky to have done so for so long.

My mother-in-law became a resident of the above care home in February 2015, as my wife and myself couldn't cope with the 24 hour care. She was made very welcome by the manageress and the staff who I must say are excellent. Nothing is too much trouble for them and the home itself is very homely and is in excellent state throughout. The standard of care is second to none. The food is very good and wholesome, and caters for different diets. The staff put on different functions to make life interesting and therapeutic for the residents if they want to participate. To wrap it up all in one its better than a five star hotel.

I found the staff at Dovecote View all so helpful. I am sure that it speeded my recovery from a hip replacement operation to spend a week there. Thank you too for returning my notebook.

My Mum became a resident in June 2013 with the onset of dementia and limited physical capabilities until she passed away in early August 2014. Prior to that she had been into Dovecote from time to time for periods of respite. Throughout these times my Mum was treated with the utmost care and dignity by all the staff, nothing was too much trouble for them. They always reacted very promptly when she needed doctor or hospital attention. My two sisters and I are able to say that during the period our mum was at home she became a much happier lady and we believe this was as a result of the care and consideration she received. It was always a happy place not just for the residents but also visitors. We were confident at all times that our Mum was receiving excellent care.

I have been in post as the Home's Manager since 2012, and thoroughly enjoy every aspect of my role.
I am responsible for the day to day running of the home,

I am very lucky to have such a hard-working, caring team around me for support,
and I am lucky to have worked alongside some of my colleagues for many years.
I am passionate about giving residents the best quality care,
