Friendly, pleasant, clean with good meals. Majority of the carers are very good. They work in very difficult situations. (The government ratio of carers to residents is ridiculous, someone from the government should try working on a dementia unit for one day).

St Mary's is very good in all areas except activities. The residents are never taken out. So if you don't have a relative who can take you out you are basically imprisoned.

Neil Ward, Digital Marketing Manager at St Marys responded to this review on 24 Dec 2015:

St. Mary's is working hard to make the necessary improvements to the activities programme particularly for residents living with dementia. The focus for the coming weeks is to provide useful and meaningful items for the residents to use, the most recent additions have been three 'twiddle' blankets which have been made and donated by a resident living in Holbrook village which have been greatly appreciated by the residents.

Mum seems very settled at St Mary's after spending some time in respite care at two other homes which she did not like. All the residents look well cared for, tidily dressed, hair done etc. Staff generally seem cheerful and busy, but not too busy to help us if needed e.g finding batteries for TV remote control. Mum complains about the food, but to us the menus look varied and interesting so we think this is just her way.
