Thornbank is an imposing, late Victorian house in the northern suburbs of Ipswich. It is situated on a hillside overlooking Christchurch Park and its many splended trees and picturesque grounds. The home is set back from the B1077 Westerfield Road and is in reach of the town centre. More recently the property was extended by the absorption of the adjoining terraced house and now 33 residents can be accommodated comfortably and spaciously.

The home has a large, bright dining room, a conservatory which looks out onto the delightfully sheltered and secluded gardens and a number of lounge or sitting areas. Each resident has their own private bed-sitting room many with delightful views over the park. All rooms have en-suite toilets, hand-basins and all but one have showers. There are bathrooms for those who prefer a bath, several are equipped to assist those who would otherwise find this difficult. All rooms have TV points and room for residents' favourite furniture, pictures and personal effects. There is a lift to all floors and a call-bell system throughout the building.

A highly qualified and experienced team of managers and staff ensure that each person is given the very best standard of care around the clock. Residents are treated with kindness and understanding and are encouraged to lead as full and independent a life as possible. Thornbank is known for its active social life and has something to offer people with different interests and outlooks. The chief cook and her team offer good choices in food, menus are varied regularly and include seasonal favourites. Thornbank can cater for special and medical diets.
