Review of Stokeleigh

Unfortunately, my siblings put my mother in a dreadful place ... having visited many homes, I was lucky enough to find Stokeleigh. It's not far from where I live ... what can I tell you? It is truly wonderful, the staff really do care. They all have such a caring way about their residents ... I am overjoyed. Tracy Bird (manager) seems to talk to residents as if they were her parents: if I am ever in need of care Stokeleigh is where I want to be.

Review of Stokeleigh

What originally attracted my sister and I to Stokeleigh was the beautiful gardens, house full of character and lovely leafy location as Mum has always loved the outdoors and her garden. Over the past 18 months staff have got to know mum well and if we have had any concerns we have been pleased with the response. Mum enjoys the activities on offer and the companionship of other residents and seems very happy and settled.

Review of Stokeleigh

Atmosphere: generally very quiet and relaxed. Residents appear happy and contented with the staff and surroundings. Staffing: patient, kind, understanding, and tolerant under difficult circumstances. Cleaning: always appears clean and a special clean is done when necessary. Manager: very efficient but with a kind, relaxed outward manner. She has her finger on the pulse of the home. Staff and residents like and respect her. Activities: most days there are activities for the residents. In the summer, staff take residents out for local visits.

Review of Stokeleigh

Dad spent the last two and a half years of his life at Stokeleigh. He was always treated with infinite care and respect. All his life Dad had been a very social person and loved company so Stokeleigh with all its activities suited him well. The staff were always friendly and cheerful when I visited. I was always offered a cup of tea, often stayed for a meal with Dad and towards the end was able to stay in a small guest room. While living in Stokeleigh Dad's Alzheimers deteriorated but this was no problem to the staff. They were well trained in the care of those with dementia and their training was kept up to date. In the last month or so Dad's physical state deteriorated and after discussing with the rest of the family it was decided that Dad should not go into hospital as this would be far too distressing for him. The staff agreed and nursed him in his own room with great gentleness and care right to the end.

Review of Stokeleigh

Stokeleigh was my father's HOME in every sense of the word. The staff were so caring and respectful of him. The home has organised activities throughout the week and outings for those who can manage them. The food is good, in fact dinner time can be quite entertaining with the variety of characters and different tastes! The manager and her staff are particularly skilled when dealing with people with dementia and Alzheimer's. My father's care was reviewed regularly and adjusted to meet his needs as his Alzheimer's got worse. The staff were also wonderful to me and the family. We could come and go at any time, stay for dinner at a moments notice, and talk to the staff with any concerns. When my father became ill the home made it clear that they would look after him to the end with whatever care he needed. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for somewhere friendly, comfortable, caring and safe.

Review of Stokeleigh

The care Dad received was superb. His lovely room was kept clean, food was good but it was the the staff who made the difference, showing real compassion in his later stages of Alzheimers. I was able to stay in the guest room from time to time as I live some distance away, and saw at close quarters just how good the staff were with all their residents. The home has managed to keep a real family spirit and the residents also looked after each other and made genuine friendships. Could not recommend highly enough.

Review of Stokeleigh

My mother who suffers from dementia moved to Stokeleigh around 2 years ago from another care home. In her previous home she was anxious or upset from time to time and I thought it was part of the condition. Sine moving to Stokeleigh she has not had these symptoms so whilst she cannot communicate much these days I can only surmise that she is happy. The staff at the home all enter into the caring culture and this is passed onto all new staff very quickly as they join. The decision to move Mum to Stokeleigh was definitely the right one.

Review of Stokeleigh

When we looked for a home for Dad we were immediately impressed by the quality of the home (we had seen some awful ones before) and they couldn't have been more helpful in finding the right care for his needs. Now Mum is also there which for her was harder, but again they have made her feel so welcome. Mum and Dad are allowed to share the last years of their lives together (seperate rooms) with dignity, and for us as the family we know they are safe and really well cared for.

After visiting many care homes in and around the area, there appeared to be no others capable of properly caring for people with dementia. This home fitted all the criteria to a good standard and they have always been courteous and helpful.

Review of Stokeleigh

The home looked after my aunt for nearly 12 years. The care given was excellent. My aunt lived to be just short of her 101st birthday and the staff were very caring towards the end of her life - which could not have been easy, but everything possible was done as far as I could see to make sure that she was always treated with dignity.
