This Review Score of 9.661 is made up of a Quality Score of 4.661 Points (maximum of 5) relating to the rating and a Quantity Score of 5 Points (maximum of 5) relating to the number of positive Reviews/Recommendations.

  • The maximum Review Score for a care home / service is 10 and it is based on the published (including Restricted Publication) Reviews in the last 2 years. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

The Review Score of 9.7 for Stokeleigh is based on 19 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.661 for Stokeleigh is calculated as follows: ( (152 Excellents x 5) + (68 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 224 Ratings = 4.661

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 5 for Stokeleigh is calculated as follows:

      1. 19 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 19 Positive Reviews = 1.900 (maximum score = 1)

      3. (19 Positive Reviews ÷ 28 Registered Beds) x 2 = 1.357 (maximum score = 1)

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. There are 5 Points available for the average of all ratings on users Recommendations/Reviews (Excellent 5, Good 4, Satisfactory 3, Poor 2, Very Poor 1). Excellent caring environment. My mother in law had a difficult, unsettled period when first going there. The staff made changes and suggestions to enable her to settle. The staff are well trained with an excellent manager. All are always pleasant and well informed. They seem to go the 'extra mile'. I would recommend Stokeleigh to anyone looking for a caring, well run residential environment. They are particularly knowledgeable and experienced in dementia care. They treat residents as individuals and utmost kindness. Also the home is a fantastic building in a great location.

My mother has been a resident for several years. Her care is excellent. The staff treat mum with respect and encourage her to join in the many activities. The manager is very efficient and know the residents and her needs very well. My sister and i have never doubted that mum truly "landed on her feet" when she moved in.

Unfortunately, my siblings put my mother in a dreadful place ... having visited many homes, I was lucky enough to find Stokeleigh. It's not far from where I live ... what can I tell you? It is truly wonderful, the staff really do care. They all have such a caring way about their residents ... I am overjoyed. Tracy Bird (manager) seems to talk to residents as if they were her parents: if I am ever in need of care Stokeleigh is where I want to be.

What originally attracted my sister and I to Stokeleigh was the beautiful gardens, house full of character and lovely leafy location as Mum has always loved the outdoors and her garden.

Over the past 18 months staff have got to know mum well and if we have had any concerns we have been pleased with the response.

Mum enjoys the activities on offer and the companionship of other residents and seems very happy and settled.

Dad spent the last two and a half years of his life at Stokeleigh. He was always treated with infinite care and respect. All his life Dad had been a very social person and loved company so Stokeleigh with all its activities suited him well. The staff were always friendly and cheerful when I visited. I was always offered a cup of tea, often stayed for a meal with Dad and towards the end was able to stay in a small guest room. While living in Stokeleigh Dad's Alzheimers deteriorated but this was no problem to the staff. They were well trained in the care of those with dementia and their training was kept up to date. In the last month or so Dad's physical state deteriorated and after discussing with the rest of the family it was decided that Dad should not go into hospital as this would be far too distressing for him. The staff agreed and nursed him in his own room with great gentleness and care right to the end.

Stokeleigh was my father's HOME in every sense of the word. The staff were so caring and respectful of him. The home has organised activities throughout the week and outings for those who can manage them. The food is good, in fact dinner time can be quite entertaining with the variety of characters and different tastes! The manager and her staff are particularly skilled when dealing with people with dementia and Alzheimer's. My father's care was reviewed regularly and adjusted to meet his needs as his Alzheimer's got worse. The staff were also wonderful to me and the family. We could come and go at any time, stay for dinner at a moments notice, and talk to the staff with any concerns. When my father became ill the home made it clear that they would look after him to the end with whatever care he needed. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for somewhere friendly, comfortable, caring and safe.

The care Dad received was superb. His lovely room was kept clean, food was good but it was the the staff who made the difference, showing real compassion in his later stages of Alzheimers. I was able to stay in the guest room from time to time as I live some distance away, and saw at close quarters just how good the staff were with all their residents. The home has managed to keep a real family spirit and the residents also looked after each other and made genuine friendships. Could not recommend highly enough.

My mother who suffers from dementia moved to Stokeleigh around 2 years ago from another care home. In her previous home she was anxious or upset from time to time and I thought it was part of the condition. Sine moving to Stokeleigh she has not had these symptoms so whilst she cannot communicate much these days I can only surmise that she is happy. The staff at the home all enter into the caring culture and this is passed onto all new staff very quickly as they join. The decision to move Mum to Stokeleigh was definitely the right one.

When we looked for a home for Dad we were immediately impressed by the quality of the home (we had seen some awful ones before) and they couldn't have been more helpful in finding the right care for his needs. Now Mum is also there which for her was harder, but again they have made her feel so welcome. Mum and Dad are allowed to share the last years of their lives together (seperate rooms) with dignity, and for us as the family we know they are safe and really well cared for.
