  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 3.969 for Parkland House is calculated as follows:

      1. 7 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 7 Positive Reviews = 0.700

      3. (7 Positive Reviews ÷ 52 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.269

The team at Parkland House are providing wonderful care. My parents who moved in in December 2015 are very private people and my mother has severe dementia with highly volatile mood swings. The staff have done a tremendous job getting to know them both and understanding how best to provide the care they need in the best way. The home is immaculate, the food is of a very high standard and there is a full range of activities to engage the residents if they wish. many thanks to a wonderful team. I have no hesitation in recommending the home to others.

My mother's dementia was advanced when she went in to care. The staff were patient and caring even when she went through difficult moods. The staff were interested to hear how mother had been before her illness; likes, dislikes and hobbies. They encourage residents to remain sociable. The food always seemed fresh, and they were flexible about dietary requirements. I work full time but the staff were always welcoming no matter what time I arrived. Mothers room was light and airy with enough room for family visits. Although not a nursing home, they provided palliative care for mother which meant I could be with her til the end.

My mother suffers form Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia. After diagnosis and a struggle to remain independent she came to live at Parkland House.
* She has found a new "friends" - we never thought this possible.
* The care and attention is excellent - the staff effectively understand my mother's need.
* There s very low staff turnover - leading to a stable and reassuring environment, very important for my mother.
* Parkland House is a cheerful and friendly home, were we are always made welcome.

I would like to give this care home a very positive recommendation form their kindness in helping my mother to settle into the home and making us both feel welcomed. They always greet us with lovely friendly smiles. The staff are always kind and helpful. The house is run efficiently and with great understanding.

My mother is presently living in Parklands. She has Alzheimer's disease and at times can be extremely difficult. I have nothing but admiration & respect for the staff who treat my mother. They are kind, patient and have much humor. My mother is very independent and still exerts her strong personality. At all times the staff engage with her and attend to her individual needs. My mother is much happier living in Parklands than before, she has lonely & frightened living in her home on her own.

When choosing a care home for my Father, we arrived at Parkland House unannounced and were immediately impressed with the happy atmosphere and pleasant surroundings. Dad has lived here for five months now, and he has been treated with respect and kindness at all times and nothing is too much trouble to help him enjoy each day. All the staff are very involved with the residents and take care to keep them happy, providing plenty of activities. The management are very approachable, and always ready to help with any queries. I am very glad that we were able to find such a good home for Dad, and would thoroughly recommend it.

'Our father lived at Parkland for 11 months until he died there in July. He suffered from relatively moderate dementia which meant he needed conversation and stimulation, but he also required understanding when he was confused. The staff were wonderful with him in whatever state of mind he was in. Dignity, humour, kindness, friendliness, patience, attention: we could have asked no more. When Dad was to leave hospital in a frail condition recently, Parkland stepped in to receive him back, despite the extra workload this required. I sat in Parkland's garden recently, with staff and residents playing boules behind me and a resident leading a clutch of other ladies in a singalong in front of me- a very happy place!'
