Review of Vicarage House, Plymouth, Devon by Yvonne Ruston (Daughter in law of resident mother and regular respite father inlaw)

As a district nurse it is very difficult to accept your family are being cared for in a residential home. Mum was admitted in a crisis situation about five years ago. From day one the care and attention mum has received has been wonderful. I visit very often and have never seen or heard anyone being anything other than courteous respectful and very kind and caring. Dad has had times when he has needed respite care. At the drop of a hat Toni has accommodated dad's and our needs nothing has been too much trouble and as a family we are eternally grateful This may not be the poshest of care homes but it will take a lot of beating when it comes to high quality care and love.

The reasons for recommendation: I have a relative who is living in the Vicarage and I visit twice a week and therefore see how they are cared for and know the staff. The rooms are bright and cheerful.

Staff are always courteous and kind, nothing is too much trouble. Special requests are always adhered to. Any problems are always dealt with professionally. Our choice of care home was a good one and relatives have peace of mind.

The staff are very hard working, they try their best to maintain high standards, while making the care they give individual to each resident. They go out of their way to help support each resident and their relatives. The manager is more than happy to talk to you at any time, should you have concerns.

The manager and staff, this includes the cooks, the cleaners and the laundry lady are the most dedicated and caring people that I have ever encountered. Their care they all give to my mum is beyond any job description, its solely because they really care and they show it every minute of every day. I am so lucky to have found these angels to give my family peace of mind to know mum is so happy and very well cared for.
