Buxton House is a warm and welcoming residential and dementia care home in Weymouth, Dorset. With a light and airy atmosphere, the home allows residents to live their lives as if in the comfort of their own homes whilst being cared for by committed, professionally trained staff.

Buxton House has 64 ensuite single bedrooms, divided into four wings to create a homely feel. Each wing has its own spacious lounge/diner and kitchen area.

Buxton House provides compassionate care for those who can longer live independently and also offers intermediate care for people requiring a short period of rehabilitation.

All residents can enjoy a wide variety of activities and entertainment in and around the home, plus outings in the Care South minibus to local landmarks and attractions.

I am the next of kin of one of the residents who wishes to remain anonymous. I also have power if attorney over his affairs, although he is very satisfied overall. One very significant aspect is lacking. The food is abysmally poor in nutrition, the meat is always very tough and the stew a mass of tasteless mess, with no sign of any onion (the most basic ingredient in a stew).
His once weekly meal with me outside is his special treat - please set this matter right asap. Thank you.

Care South is grateful for this feedback and the many good areas that have been highlighted. Naturally the feedback on "Food and Drink" is disappointing and of concern. Care South prides itself on offering the highest standards of catering and nutrition across all its homes, and is looking into this individual experience and how improvements can be made. Generally feedback from residents at Buxton House is positive about food and nutrition. If the reviewer would like to contact the Manager of the home directly she would be glad to discuss this matter to ensure that this experience is not repeated.

This care home was wonderful, they looked after my Nan so well, kept her motivated, had her laughing with VE celebrations, and many other activities. If she didn't sleep well she would keep the night nurse company and chat. One young lady even let her brush and plait her hair, which she got such enjoyment from. The staff go above and beyond in every way, and I can never thank them enough for all their effort, care and work.

The staff are very friendly and helpful and always thinking of ways to encourage residents to join in with games (Bingo etc.) and physical exercises and raising money for trips out, organising coffee mornings, Summer fetes, Christmas fairs etc. Residents are encouraged to sit out in the sheltered patio area on warm days, I would recommend it. Not forgetting the cleaners too who work tirelessly to keep the home clean.
