My mother has been in St Celilia for 6 years with Alzheimer’s and I have had the best care and help throughout her stay.
Review of St Cecilia on Friday 17 February 2012 by christina m (daughter)
My mum lived with my dad for 60 yrs. In the last few years her strange behaviour was eventually diagnosed as dementia. My dad, as main carer, was exhausted. We had to move mum out. St Cecilia's is the 3rd dementia care home my mum has been in. And St Cecilia's is absolutely wonderful. She has lived there 2 years now. It's a lovely Edwardian house that is home to up to 14 residents. I visit at different times of the day & early evening and there is always a happy, welcoming feel. The loving, caring team of staff understand dementia. They follow the care concept outlined in "Contented Dementia" by Oliver James. "The resident is always right, never interrupt them, never disagree." This approach to caring results in a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere. The staff & residents gather together in the lounge. The care home has a family feel to it. I know I can get on with my life while my mum is getting the best care 24 hours a day. My dad has a new lease of life. I recommend St Cecilia's to everyone.
