The Review Score of 8.802 for Laverstock Care Centre is based on 14 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.452 for Laverstock Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (66 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 157 Ratings = 4.452

    • Quantity Score: 5 Points are available for the number of 'Positive Reviews' for a care home / service. A Positive Review is defined as:

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.35 for Laverstock Care Centre is calculated as follows:

      1. 14 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 14 Positive Reviews = 1.400 (maximum score = 1)

      3. (14 Positive Reviews ÷ 80 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.350

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. There are 5 Points available for the average of all ratings on users Recommendations/Reviews (Excellent 5, Good 4, Satisfactory 3, Poor 2, Very Poor 1). I was in Laverstock Care Centre for 4 days only to allow my wife some respite from looking after me whilst she visited our twin granddaughters at university. The care/support was generally first rate. My only criticism were:
1) The slippery shiny brown satin bedspread which was a pain to keep tidy, necessitating a lot of walking round to straighten it after it had been sat upon.
2) Of the housekeeper who tore around the room tidying up and putting my toilet things on a low shelf beneath the lavatory systern, virtually out of reach and i cannot reach below my knees. (I found this out after she had left)
3) Another problem was the difficulty of creaming my itchy back. It would have liked to have been asked if i wanted any help here. I treated the whole visit as an exercise in self sufficiency and was disappointed to find i failed here.
4) I found there was no wi-fi, although the website said there was
5) Additionally the phone was put in on the 3rd (Thank heavens for mobiles!)

My mother was encouraged and supported to make the naturally difficult transition to residential care. The nursing staff/carers were excellent and treated her with dignity, professionalism, good humour and affection. I was always welcomed and included which also helped me accept that this was where my mother would be best helped and happy.

Staff shortages impact quality of care. Barry and his team are fantastic with residents. At times food at meal times seems minimal. Residents due to staff shortages are having to wait to be taken to the loo. All staff are very friendly to both residents and visitors. Where satisfactory given this would be higher if the staffing was at the level of three at all times, seems to be two more often than three!!

Thank you for taking the time to review Laverstock Care Centre, we really appreciate your feedback. At Laverstock we take great pride in ensuring we deliver high quality care and facilities and providing outstanding choices and quality produce when creating a healthy and varied menu, meeting the needs of every resident’s individual dietary requirements. To ensure we continually meet these standards we can arrange a meeting with our Chef to discuss meal choices. We welcome the opportunity to improve, and hope you will continue to share your thoughts with us in the home in future.

I was very well looked after, food was good. Sometimes members of staff were laughing very loudly at 3-4 in the morning. Woke me up and could not get back to sleep.
Sometimes the liaison between night staff and day staff was not good ie. orders for porridge and toast were not passed on.

One of the best care centres around the Salisbury area! I am satisfied with all aspects of the care home except that there has been a noticeable shortage of staff, especially over the weekends. I know this issue is being addressed by the management; and this problem seems to be one that is being experienced by other care homes. In addition the lighting in rooms does not appear to be changed regularly. Bulbs are not replaced!

I recommend that the cleaning staff have some additional hours/staff, they are always very busy cleaning residents rooms and bathrooms as well as reacting to cleaning after accidents, however the dining area/lounge needs more than one visit, there is often food on the floor both these communal areas and the carpets could do with a deep clean. The windows also need cleaning, as do the table mats which are stained. Don't get me wrong they do a wonderful job, but I wonder if they could be given more hours to address the above. The tv is usually on a modern radio station my father and other residents would prefer to watch the television.

We really appreciate your feedback. At Laverstock we pride ourselves in providing high quality care and environments and have a large team regularly cleaning all areas. We note your feedback and now ensure the dining area/lounge is being cleaned after each meal and the Head Housekeeper will ensure it is kept to a consistently high standard. We try to have a mixture of music and TV during the day but we will discuss the music choice with the residents and team. We always welcome the opportunity to review and improve upon what we offer and hope you will share your thoughts with us in the home.

When my mother was discharged from hospital she was very weak and had lost her appetite, with the encouragement of the staff at the Laverstock Care Centre she has now regained her normal eating and is much stronger. The care that my mother has received has been amazing and I will thoroughly recommend this home.

Mum was admitted after a stay in hospital from a fall. She was very weak and could barely walk and she was not eating well. All the staff encouraged and aided mum to eat and get mobile again. My sister and I have noticed a vast improvement which is entirely due to the constant care and professionalism of the home.

Description:

During my 34 years in nursing I have specialised in the care of older people and have a wide range of experience, including caring for people with a range of neurological conditions.

I have always strived to make a difference to the lives of those I care for and place the wishes of residents at the heart of the care we provide at Laverstock Care Centre. Our tightly-knit Care Team work with each resident to develop a personalised care plan, which caters for their specific needs and ensures that residents have choice and control over how their care is delivered.

Within my role, I take particular pleasure from getting to know residents and their families. I feel that having a good understanding of each resident’s background is essential in building a relationship of trust. I encourage family involvement through a culture of open communication, which has resulted in the friendly, welcoming atmosphere experienced at Laverstock Care Centre.

I live just a few miles away and, in my spare time, I play an active role in the local community. I serve as a School Governor and support a number of local charities and church organisations.
