Highbury House/Fernlea opened in order to meet the growing need for fifty-two week provision for young adults, male or female, who were either autistic or experienced severe learning difficulties. In addition, a ground floor suite was created to accommodate a resident with mobility difficulties.
Adelphi Care Services has begun the process of changing all of its services from generic to autism specific... The provider has reached the stage of being 'autism friendly' on its path to autism accreditation with the National Autistic Society. The company believes that all service users will receive enhanced care and support from this change in culture.
Adelphi Care has retained its five star rating with The British Safety Council and this year 2012 has achieved The Sword of Honour Award, described by The BSC as being "The best of the best".

Review of Highbury House/Fernlea, Shrewsbury, Shropshire by Lin Burford (Mother of Resident)
Monday 23 July 2012
Our daughter is very well cared for and we have no worries or concerns regarding her care. She returns home every two weeks and we can see by her behaviour that she is extremely content in the home and with the staff and general atmosphere surrounding her there.

Review of Highbury House/Fernlea, Shrewsbury, Shropshire by John Parry (Father of Resident)
Friday 18 May 2012
After leaving school Jack became a very unhappy and aggressive young man, owing to unsuitable daily placements. After going for a few day sessions to Highbury he seemed to be happy and settled, so he became a resident. We have always been kept informed about his wellbeing. His frequent medical and other problems have always been dealt with sensitively and promptly. He enjoys coming home every two-three weeks for a few days, but is happy to go back to Highbury.
