The Broadway, Woodhall Spa is home to Westerley. Woodhall Spa is a large, enchanting village located on the Southern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. It is built in and surrounded by trees which shelter it from East coast winds. Woodhall Spa is midway between Lincoln, with its lovely old Cathedral, Roman ruins and modern shopping centre and Boston, an attractive market town. Skegness and the East Coast are only a short journey away. Residents are actively encouraged to pursue their own hobbies and interests, both within the home and locally. Since the Homes are Christian Homes, residents are encouraged to share in daily family prayers, where possible, but this is not obligatory. These prayers are held each weekday in the mornings and Holy Communion is celebrated monthly. All rooms are fitted with a call bell and are equipped to recognised standards for disabled residents. Residents may have their own telephones fitted in their rooms and all rooms are equipped with a TV aerial socket. Accommodation is provided in single en-suite rooms, however there are a few companion rooms available for married couples. Residents rooms are locate don the ground and first floor (access by passenger lift). Westerley provides a spacious dining room and two lounges, one of which has television facilities and the other with hi-fi and books. The lounges are fitted with a loop system for the hard of hearing. An attractive garden lounge was added in the recent refurbishment. Residents can enjoy the extensive, sheltered gardens, offering the opportunity for relaxation and lawn games. For the keen gardener there is a greenhouse for Residents´ use. Westerley has its own 15 seater minibus with tail lift and space to accommodate wheelchairs, and various regular outings are organised for residents. Regular evening entertainments are also held in the Home. The Home and village are situated on level ground, ideal for elderly people. The home provides two battery operated scooters for those residents who find walking difficult. The Home is close to the local Methodist Church which has small but newly refurbished buildings, modern seating and a loop system. Westerley has a very close relationship with the local church and is deeply involved in its life. |
