      The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

        (For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

      The Quantity Score of 4.088 for Rylands is calculated as follows:

      2. 0.1 x 5 Positive Reviews = 0.500

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10.   • Before 1st July 2015 carehome.co.uk only accepted Recommendations (positive comments only) and the Ratings were limited to Excellent, Good & Satisfactory. These are marked up as Recommendations.

  • As of 1st July 2015 carehome.co.uk changed from Recommendations to Reviews (positive and negative comments) and added the Ratings Poor and Very Poor. These are marked up as Reviews. Between 1st July and 31st December 2015, we are still processing a number of Recommendations from Recommendation cards sent out before 1st July (These are marked up as Recommendations).

  • We receive approximately 15% of Reviews/Recommendations through website submission and 85% of Reviews/Recommendations through Review/Recommendation Cards (only available to Enhanced / Premium Services more info).

  • We only accept/publish Reviews that are submitted by a Resident/Service User or their Friends/Family (cannot be submitted anonymously) and comply with our Content Standards (eg are relevant, informative, civil and do not contain allegations of abuse, negligence or criminal activity).

My sister has been at Rylands for two years. As all her family live a distance away it's a great comfort to know that she is safe and well cared for. Prior to her moving to Rylands we were always concerned and dreaded the next phone call. She was quite ill when she arrived but over the past year her health has improved considerably, she now eats properly, takes her medication correctly and is clean and comfortable. She has recently been in hospital which increases her confusion and we are always very relieved when we know she is back home at Rylands. On our visits we find the staff to be welcoming, pleasant and always ready to help her with whatever she needs. We would like to thank the Manager and her dedicated to team for their hard work and support.

My mother was moved into the home 16 months ago, very frail and anxious. Since then her health has improved and she has been made to feel safe and secure. She is now looking forward to her 100th birthday in January. Mum likes all the staff who always show her kindness and friendliness. A doctor is called whenever she needs medical care which, thanks to her carers diligence, has only happened twice since her arrival. I can't praise them enough!

The care that my mother recieves at The Rylands is second to none, the care team are excellent and nothing as too much trouble for mandy and her team. This home is excellent on all levels. The food that is served is brilliant all cooked on site, there is a daily menu on show from breakfast, lunch, tea and supper. My mother has put weight on since being here. She has her hair done regularly. They have trips out, sing songs, their bedrooms are immaculate cleaned out daily and the home always smells fresh and clean.I would reccomend anyone who is looking for a home for their parent(s) realatives etc to look at The Rylands, it is the best after visiting her I go away happy knowing she is well cared for.

The staff at Ryland's Residential Care Home could not have done more for my Aunt who sadly passed away on Saturday, Debbie , Mandy & all the carers did all they could for her and made her last months a happy, comfortable & safe place. When it became clear that she was approaching the end of her life they couldn't have been more supportive & we wish to express our grateful thanks.
