The Review Score of 9.047 for Beechfield Lodge is based on 11 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.373 for Beechfield Lodge is calculated as follows:

      1. 11 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 11 Positive Reviews = 1.100 (maximum score = 1)

      3. (11 Positive Reviews ÷ 59 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.373

My wife spent 2 months reviewing every care provider for our Mum's complex need after strokes and heart attacks in 2013 abruptly stole her independence and mobility.
Having visited those on short list, there was only one we would trust with her care.
Nothing has changed a total belief our family made the best possible choice with Beechfield Lodge for Mum
The building is as close to home as she can get.
The staff, both personal care and management is as good as it gets when you can't do it yourself.
This really is a credit to the caring profession.
Thank you on Mum's behalf.

Making the hard decision that your parent would be best places with a 24/7 care environment is something most never wanted to do. However choosing Beechfield has proven to be one of the best decisions we could have made. Mum has mixed dementia and has been here since October. She is now very settled and the most relaxed and un-anxious I have seen her in a long while. The staff are all great. They have a caring nature and understand the needs of those residents with dementia and how to work with them. They have regular meal and break times, regular activities. Mum has her hair done every other week at the hairdressers. Her flatlet is kept clean and tidy as is her laundry. She is helped with her personal needs & kept clean, tidy & dressed nicely. She has a key worker who gets to know her well and all the carers and team leaders get to know and interact with the residents (and family members) in a family friendly way. I am relieved to know that when I come away my mum is safe & happy.

The home is well run, the staff have clearly defined roles and are caring and pleasant. I feel a number of residents would benefit from more colour coding to identify different parts of the building, as is already utilised to distinguish the life access. There are some well established activities which are good e.g armchair exercises and weekly sing-a-long to name just two. The food is definitely a winner with my dad. His room is spacious and comfortable with an interesting view of passers by through the mature trees in the grounds.

Mum has lived at Beechfield Lodge for approx 18 months. She has dementia and can't stand/walk. She has to be hoisted into her chair, bed, toilet. The staff are lovely with her. She is treated with dignity, respect and humour. She thoroughly enjoys her contact with staff. I am particularly impressed with all the activities that go on, there is often singing and laughter.

Beechfield Lodge provides first class care. The accommodation and grounds are attractive, clean and well maintained. The carers go to the extra mile for the residents, nothing is too much trouble. The contact with my mothers key worker is regular, any concerns I may have are dealt with promptly. The home work hard to provide activities that are stimulating.

My mother went into Beechfield Lodge in March. She is 96 and managed quite well in the home she has lived in for 65 years. So after a couple of falls, mini strokes, she decided she needed a bit more looking after. She is a very independent lady but the staff at Beechfield assured her they were there to do as she wanted to do. They have all been absolutely wonderful and made her feel at home immediately. Nothing is too much trouble and if my sister or I have to ask anything we are always dealt with kindness and efficiency and never made to feel a nuisance. The food is great as well- all freshly made on the premises.

My Mother lived previously in an Anchor flat which she was very happy with until she got to an age where she needed extra care as she kept falling. Mum has been extremely well looked after at Beechfield Lodge, she is very happy there and I have complete confidence in the staff that work there. I knew about Beechfield because Mum previously lived in an Anchor home, and this home being one also had many recommendations. The staff and management have helped & supported Mum over many health & personal issues. Her flat is lovely & their are plenty of opportunities to join in on activities each day which she does and enjoys. The staff don't change very often which is good. It would be good in my opinion if all homes could be like Beechfield.

Before my wife was taken into care I checked 19 residences and this offered outstanding accommodation, excellent facilities and a high standard of catering. I don't know if it is down to a brilliant selection/recruitment service or a high standard of training but all staff are excellent, caring, considerate and really patient, (with a high proportion of dementia patients they need to be).

My mother is so happy she thinks my brother-in-law and myself should put our names down now. She'll even put in a good word for us. I have found all the staff, carers, housekeeping, kitchen and office, know all the residents and their relatives and take time to interact with us all.

My aunt is so happy, she regards it as her home. I looked at many care homes and none equalled this one in care, facilities and surroundings. I have eaten at the care home and it was extremely good.
