Palatine Lodge Residential Home is a small, quiet, cosy home in a picturesque conservation area in Burnley, East Lancashire. We are a non-judgmental home which allows families unlimited access and we pride ourselves on giving our residents excellent secure care at very low fee rates. Fee rates start at 300 GBP weekly, up to 1250 GBP weekly, depending on the complexity of the care needs. We provide weekly phone or email updates to families about their loved ones. We used to be a learning disability and dementia home but were recently able to achieve a change of registration and can now take clients 55 and over with LD, mental disorder, dementia, Alzheimers, schizophrenia, eating disorders, and past alcohol problems plus those who require re-training in life skills. Older residential (OP) clients considered on an individual basis. Recently, we have opened a Transitional Care Unit (TCU) of 4 beds (called the Palatine Programme) for patients with learning disability, mental health issues, terminal diagnosis or dementia needing a short-term recovery period. We have doubled our staff ratio to enable us to fulfill this programme. Besides, the staff and our manager have obtained training for the care of residents with dementia, learning disability, mental health, and end of life/ terminal diagnosis. Although our staff are trained in mental health issues, dealing with dementia and learning disability, we now also have specialists available to consult when needed. We offer a special caring environment for patients who no longer require all the resources of an acute care hospital, want to go home eventually but are not ready to be discharged home. The Palatine programme provides a customized convalescence plan in a way that best suits the goals and the patient’s needs. We provide personalized learning, daily living skills in which goals have been developed from discussions between the patient, social workers, family and the therapists. The objective is to help the patient develop the skills needed to return to their own home if possible and permitting detailed needs assessment for future in-home care services. A few extra days for recovery in the TCU can give patients just the time they need to regain strength and function needed to successfully be discharged. We provide excellent care, have highly-trained staff, and a very small but professional setting for residents with dementia/Alzheimers. We have had very positive feedback from social workers and families who were unhappy with other homes. We work closely with multi-discipline teams and more challenging mixed diagnoses. Over 95% of staff have the NVQ qualification and this is the highest in our area. Mental health clients under detention requiring a secure perimeter accepted. Please call Katie, our manager at 01282 431 450
