There are many seating areas, a library and lounges residents can choose to relax or take advantage of the extensive range of activities and make use of a range of facilities, including trips in the vintage motor car.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.226 for Moorings Retirement Home is calculated as follows: ( (48 Excellents x 5) + (45 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.226

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.003 for Moorings Retirement Home is calculated as follows:

      1. 8 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 8 Positive Reviews = 0.800

      3. (8 Positive Reviews ÷ 79 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.203

You get what you pay for in means of décor the home is beautiful, and doesn’t feel or look like a typical care home, but the price you pay doesn’t reflect the level of care you receive.
I have searched the grounds looking for carers many times to not be able to find anyone. I have witnessed staff talking about residents, whilst directly in front of them but acting like they are not there or cannot hear them. Sometimes being quite patronising or rude.
Many times my gran and other residents have asked for assistance to be told “I’ll be right back” or “I’ll get someone for you” for nobody to ever return.
I have pressed the buzzer in my gran’s room for assistance and waited over 10 minutes for someone to come, then disappear and come back 40 minutes later. I dread to think my gran could have fallen and the response time and lack of interest is scary.

We are currently looking for a suitable home for gran and feel cheated by the home, bad care disguised by a glamorous brand.

It is very good. I have been ill and the staff have been very good to me, with everything such as looking after my room, keeping it clean and keeping my dignity. It is the best place to be, best on the Fylde Coast. I've stayed in other places and they are not as good, they have more compassion here and are more efficient.

The reason I came here I lost my wife after 66 years married, at the time the home was more or less built and finished. It does not seem like a care home but could be a 5 star hotel. The staff and medical facilities I found excellent and if privacy is important not a problem. So in my 3rd year here I have to desire to return to Yorkshire where I lived.
