Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)
The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.667 for Sandygate is calculated as follows: ( (16 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.667

Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.
0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)
(Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.
(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points
The Quantity Score of 3.274 for Sandygate is calculated as follows:
2 Positive Reviews = 3
0.1 x 2 Positive Reviews = 0.200
(2 Positive Reviews ÷ 54 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.074

How Likely are the Reviewers to Recommend Sandygate?
Reviewer Connection to Sandygate
*The Average Rating only uses ratings from the 1 reviews. Ratings from the 1 recommendations are not used for the Average Rating as the rating options were limited to Excellent, Good and Satisfactory.
Recommendation submitted from a Postal Card by Y B (Daughter of Resident/Service User) on Tuesday 22 December 2015. Recommendation relates to November 2015.
We tried two previous homes before we found Sandygate, we knew as soon as we entered that it was different. The staff as we entered was the administrator - who is an asset, always extra pleasant and the new stand-in manager (manager of Beeches) is excellent. The staff in the kitchen have been splendid as my mum is lactose intolerant and they make her special cake and puds. The volunteer is exceptional and pleasant.
The entertainment is spot on, and my mum loves the bingo. Most of all the staff are warm and accommodating. I just feel the residents with alzheimer's or dementia should be downstairs, or at least should have another lounge. The only problem at weekends, often messages are not passed on.
How likely would you be to recommend Sandygate? Likely

Thank you for your positive feedback about Sandygate we will be sure to pass on the comments to the staff team. Residents living with dementia are situated on the ground floor to allow access to the grounds. We will also review and action your comment about better communication.

I am very happy with the quality of care my grandparent is receiving at Sandygate. The staff cannot do enough even although they are extremely busy. I would like if there were additional staff to give more one to one time with residents.
