Mum was very ill and unable to do anything in the last few months of her life. The dedication, care and love that was shown to mum by all the staff was over and above anything we could have wished for. As a family it was comforting to know that mum was safe and being looked after in the way that she was.

The manager and staff do their best to make the new residents feel so comfortable and home from home at a very vulnerable time for them. Also they include the family at all times with decisions and celebrations. They are kind and courteous and do their best to keep everyone happy. You do not get this in all care homes.

My mother-in-law moved to Wakefield and the Sycamores, after her husband died. She was immediately made welcome and encouraged to feel at home, the staff rapidly understood her specific needs e.g puree diet, hearing aid and acted upon the information. They were kind gentle and patient. As she approached the end of life they were compassionate and very caring, the Sycamores gave quality to the last 9 months of her life.

My mother lived at The Sycamores for 9 months. She settled in very quickly and soon won the hearts of all the staff. She was happy and content and very well cared for during her time there. The staff showed her respect, kindness and affection - she was part of their extended family. I can't praise the care she received highly enough. Many, many thanks.

On 29 May 2012 my mother came on respite care, allowing us to have a holiday, from the moment she came through the door, she was made welcome, we were shown to room 27 on the first floor, accessed by a lift. The room was large, en suite, and had everything she could need, the staff all seemed happy and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. Mum came home on 5 May, and hasn't stopped singing their praises, she enjoyed every meal, and was checked on all day and during the night, she enjoyed her room which overlooked the school where her Grandchildren used to go. Mum said "I'm looking forward to staying there again" We can now go on holiday, knowing that Mum is in safe hands.
