The Review Score of 7.937 for The Old Rectory is based on 1 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.75 for The Old Rectory is calculated as follows: ( (9 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.75

    • Quantity Score: 5 Points are available for the number of 'Positive Reviews' for a care home / service. A Positive Review is defined as:

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 3.187 for The Old Rectory is calculated as follows:

      1. 1 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 1 Positive Reviews = 0.100

      3. (1 Positive Reviews ÷ 23 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.087

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. My father required residential care as he developed dementia. It was really really hard for us during that time as we felt a little isolated and unsure of how things would work out. We were given a list of care homes to visit by social services.

We visited a number of homes in the space of around a week or so. That was when we went into The Old Rectory Care Home the atmosphere was so relaxed. We met the manager and I found myself really telling him how hard I had been finding the decision as it was going to have such a big impact on my fathers life. He reassured me and he told me to use my heart as good care can be felt. He explained that you can feel a care home and when you enter a facility that looks after people you can tell within around ten minutes what is like to live there. He was right I think.

I decided that The Old Rectory Care Home would be a good new home for my father. I was blessed I think because you read some horror stories about care homes in the news papers. The staff that look after my father are so nice. When I come in to see him the staff are often sitting with the people that live there doing their hair or playing games. It feels like home to me.

My father has had some ups and downs since moving into The Old Rectory Care Home but I'm pleased to say the staff have been exceptional. They take the time and have a calm approach to looking after people. They always seem so calm it's lovely.

I walked past the manager and the manager was having a cup of tea with one of the other people that lived in the care home. I can see that taking the time with people is something the boss seems to do himself.

I would recommend the care home it's a great place to visit and my father seems really happy there.
