  • The maximum Review Score for a care home / service is 10 and it is based on the published (including Restricted Publication) Reviews in the last 2 years. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

The Review Score of 9.031 for Tower Hill is based on 6 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.681 for Tower Hill is calculated as follows: ( (53 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.681

    • Quantity Score: 5 Points are available for the number of 'Positive Reviews' for a care home / service. A Positive Review is defined as:

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.35 for Tower Hill is calculated as follows:

      1. 6 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 6 Positive Reviews = 0.600

      3. (6 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.750

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. There are 5 Points available for the average of all ratings on users Recommendations/Reviews (Excellent 5, Good 4, Satisfactory 3, Poor 2, Very Poor 1). Mum stayed for a weeks respite care whilst we were on holiday. She really enjoyed her stay, very good care and food. My two daughter's visited her several times and were both very impressed with the care and the professional attitude of the staff. Mum is going in for another stay soon. Highly recommended.

Mum stayed at Tower Hill for five weeks respite care. We all found the staff very caring and made Mum feel welcome even though it was for such a short stay.

My husband Donald Caesar, who suffers from Dementia, stayed for the duration of 10 days in the Nursing Home 'Tower Hill' in Penarth. The manageress of the Nursing Home came to our house to assess my husband. She explained everything which we needed to know so well. She invited me to bring my husband to the Nursing Home to have a look around first and see if we like the place. I thought it was such a really nice gesture. I loved the place the moment I walked in. It was homely and all the rooms were lovely and clean and had a beautiful view. I couldn't have asked for anything better for my husband to stay there for respite. The manageress and staff were so friendly and helpful. It felt like home from home. I knew my husband was in the best of hands. After his stay there, and being back home again, he told me that he misses the place and the friends he made there. I am so grateful to the manageress and staff for giving my husband the best of care you can ask for. I would be grateful if my husband could stay at 'Tower Hill' again if I needed a break. Again I want to say Thank You so very much to everybody at 'Tower Hill' for a brilliant job and their loving care.
