"Specialised, person-centred support" Rosewood is a residential service in Swansea for adults with Autism and Asperger syndrome who have moderate to severe learning difficulties. The expert care provided is an ideal environment to enable service users to learn, become more confident and develop independence.
Each individual has their own tailored learning programme of activities with goals reflecting their abilities and interests. The overall aim is to help individuals become more independent and to develop the life and social skills that they need to move on into the community.
Rosewood’s support staff are fully trained in all areas within the autism spectrum and have a highly qualified team of behaviour advisors to support each service users every need. Communication can be difficult for people with autism, at Rosewood staff use a variety of communication methods including spoken language, sign language and visual strategies, so that they can communicate clearly with each individual and make sure their views are heard and understood.
Rosewood staff understand how important it is to support the individual and not the syndrome, recognising individual potential and whenever possible, challenging the implied restrictions that the triad may impose.
