My mum who has Alzheimer's disease has spent two periods of respite care totalling 3 weeks between March and June 2014 in Hunterhill Care Home. The first few days of her first admission were very confusing and emotional for her, but with the staffs' intervention, care and attention she settled quickly and by the end of the first week she was enjoying her stay thoroughly. She was so relaxed and looked so great on her return home, I had no reservations about her returning for respite care in June this year. The home is very modern, but has a relaxed, homely feel and the staff are polite, caring and interested in their residents. There is arranged activities and events for the residents and the food looks appetising and very we'll presented. The rest of Mum's family who visited regularly were also very impressed with her care. Mum is going in for another longer period of respite soon and I have absolutely no worries about her safety, nutrition, socialisation and general care. I am so very disappointed that Hunterhill Care Home is being closed to Local Authority service users and it will be a big loss to residents, relatives and carers in the Renfrewshire area. Please reconsider this decision.
