The Review Score of 9.669 for Oxford House Nursing Home is based on 20 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.669 for Oxford House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (167 Excellents x 5) + (66 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 239 Ratings = 4.669

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 5 for Oxford House Nursing Home is calculated as follows:

      1. 20 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 20 Positive Reviews = 2.000 (maximum score = 1)

      3. (20 Positive Reviews ÷ 34 Registered Beds) x 2 = 1.176 (maximum score = 1)

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. There are 5 Points available for the average of all ratings on users Recommendations/Reviews (Excellent 5, Good 4, Satisfactory 3, Poor 2, Very Poor 1). My father has only been at Oxford House for four weeks but he has been cared for very well. The management could not have done more to ensure everything was in place for his arrival and they continue to be fully involved in his care. The carers are very kind and caring and there are plenty of them; they answer the call bell promptly. There is a very positive atmosphere at Oxford House; the management have many initiatives in the pipeline to ensure Oxford House can be as good as possible. Relatives are made to feel very welcome.

My Dad is alone in the home since my Mother died in May - Oxford House has been entirely sympathetic to both parents. My Mum was nursed very well and my Dad is fed well, tended daily in personal care, dress and encouraged to treat Oxford House as his home with plenty for him to enjoy. It is not regimented but all the staff take part in whatever needs doing. All the staff are well suited and the management is entirely accessible and friendly.

I can't think of anything the home could do better. My parents have been here since July 2014. The home is very proactive and has a number of activities for the residents including visiting Slough Town Football Club which is next door and who have kindly
given Oxford House a number of season tickets.

Oxford House is a very caring and friendly home. My mum came here six years ago and has been well looked after. Her room is light and airy and she has been encouraged to make it like home with her personal belongings. Whilst mum sometimes prefers to stay in her room, there is a lovely lounge where she can sit and be in the company of other residents. We as a family are welcomed by all the staff and there are no restrictions on "sensible" visiting hours. A cup of tea is always on offer.

My dad has been in the Oxford House Nursing Home "family" for over four years. I live in the USA but am always confident that he is in the best possible hands. When I can speak to the same dedicated staff day after day it is beyond reassuring. I cannot say enough positive things about Oxford House Nursing Home and their team of wonderful carers.

Overall it's been a good experience. I was very frightened of the name nursing home because of some not very good experiences in other nursing homes with a family member, but this nursing home is just like a 'home', you feel free to come and go to see your loved one. Very good homely environment. Very good carers. Very good nursing care - kindness and politeness should be part of the service, which makes you feel relieved, and it's there, and I would recommend to anybody.

All staff are welcoming and friendly not just to the residents but also to the family visiting. Staff are thorough in the care given and automatically report any concerns to the nurse on duty. Activities, the staff work hard to mentally stimulate residents and have a very good rapport and provide friendly banter. Staff also report to the relatives but also write up reports on a regular daily basis.

My first connection with Oxford House was when my grandmother was a resident in the 1990's. At that time our family was delighted with the care that she received. More recently my mother spent 2 weeks in Oxford House when her home was in danger of flooding. The response from staff when I contacted them was very quick and so very caring.
When my mother decided that it was necessary for her to have care that we could not provide at home she was very anxious that she should move into Oxford House. When I contacted the manager the response was very quick and in no time at all my mother was happily settled in the nursing home. My mother is so happy and feels cared for and listened to. I am 100% happy with the care and love that she is receiving. I find the staff caring and responsive to my mother's needs and wants. Their communication is excellent and I have the utmost confidence in them.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Oxford House to anyone who was looking for full time care for their loved one.
