Hulcott Nursing Home is registered with the commission for social care inspection to provide both respite and permanent care to 49 elderly people who require personal care and nursing support. Our Home Manager Victoria Dobbin has a wealth of experience in providing care for elderly people through many years of working within care homes. General Description The Home Manager at Hulcott Nursing Home is a qualified registered nurse, with considerable experience in providing care and support to elderly people. A team of friendly dedicated staff support the manager, ensuring the continued well-being of the residents. The approach to nursing and healthcare needs at Hulcott is discreet. As much or as little support as an individual requires is provided, whilst ensuring that each resident retains their right to privacy, independence and dignity. Each resident, and their relatives, are offered the opportunity to be involved in developing their individual care package together with a senior member of the nursing team; this ensures that the package of care is appropriate and supports independence and quality of life. Hulcott Nursing Home is located in the small and picturesque village of Hulcott, north of Aylesbury, between Bierton and Rowsham in the county of Buckinghamshire. The village name is Anglo Saxon in origin, and means 'hovel-like cottage'. In the manorial records of 1200, it was recorded as Hoccote. There is a natural charm to Hulcott village, which was originally designed by William Devey, the famous Victorian architect, who pioneered the vernacular revival in the 1860’s. He was the first architect to apply the Wealden style to cottages and small estate buildings, and to use the Flemish manner, familiar to east Kent and East Anglia, in combination with Jacobean style for the mansions. His interest in the use of local materials directly contributed to the emergence of the Arts and Crafts Movement, and is evident in the impressive design of Hulcott Nursing home, which was originally built as the village rectory in 1862. Hulcott Nursing Home is a distinguished character house that has been lovingly restored, retaining its wealth of character through its prominent architectural features, which are today complemented by contemporary furnishings to provide bright and spacious accommodation. Private Rooms - All 38 single and companion rooms have been tastefully and individually furnished with en-suite facilities, call bells, television, telephone points and individually thermostatically controlled central heating radiators. These comfortable rooms are ideal for residents entertaining family and friends in privacy. The first floor bedrooms can be reached via an automatic passenger lift, or alternatively via one of the gracious staircases. Lifestyle As part of the Caring Homes Group, Hulcott benefits from being part of a quality focussed organisation with accreditations to ISO9001 (2000) and Hospitality Assured standards in recognition of the groups commitment to high standards and consistency in service delivery. Meals can be taken in the privacy of a resident’s private room or alternatively in the dining area, which provides good opportunities for social engagement and catching up with friends. There are clear benefits in maintaining hobbies and leading as active a life as possible. At Hulcott a dedicated activities co-ordinator works with residents to develop weekly plans incorporating as many resident’s individual preferences as possible. Complementing the weekly programme of activities are visiting speakers who provide talks on a wide variety of stimulating subjects; social functions are arranged providing opportunities for family and friends to get together, and outings, which are organised throughout the year. Services Hulcott provides a full laundry service for residents, which is fully inclusive. However, dry cleaning attracts an additional charge We arrange regular visits from hairdressers, chiropodists and opticians, for the provision of services to residents, on whatever basis they choose.
