This Review Score of 9.444 is made up of a Quality Score of 4.725 Points (maximum of 5) relating to the rating and a Quantity Score of 4.719 Points (maximum of 5) relating to the number of positive Reviews/Recommendations.

  • The maximum Review Score for a care home / service is 10 and it is based on the published (including Restricted Publication) Reviews in the last 2 years. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

The Review Score of 9.4 for Chelmsford Nursing Home is based on 23 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.725 for Chelmsford Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (202 Excellents x 5) + (60 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 269 Ratings = 4.725

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.719 for Chelmsford Nursing Home is calculated as follows:

      1. 23 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 23 Positive Reviews = 2.300 (maximum score = 1)

      3. (23 Positive Reviews ÷ 64 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.719

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. There are 5 Points available for the average of all ratings on users Recommendations/Reviews (Excellent 5, Good 4, Satisfactory 3, Poor 2, Very Poor 1). My Mum has been in Chelmsford Nursing Home since January 2015. I am extremely grateful to all the staff for the care she's given. Mum is also treated with utmost dignity. Everyone is so caring and we are always made very welcome. Mum is often taken out on day trips and entertain and stimulation is also provided in the home. Reception staff and the management team are also excellent.

Great big thanks to you all.

Thank you for taking the time to provide these comments as they help us to improve the service we offer.
For information, the menus have now been revised and residents have been consulted with regards to choice. The carpets are included in the capital expenditure plan and will be replaced in the coming months.

My mother has been a resident in Chelmsford nursing home for nearly two years. My sister and I cannot fault the care she receives from All the staff. We are kept informed if any change in her condition, when we visit we are made to feel welcome and part of a large family and we are confident in the knowledge that mum is being treated with the utmost dignity.

I am extremely grateful to Chelmsford nursing home for caring for my husband in such a lovely way. Nothing is to much trouble for them, from the management to the carers. I would recommend this home to anyone. He is spotlessly clean even though he cannot do a thing for himself, and is always very happy. I can now sleep soundly at night knowing he is safe.
Thank you everyone at Chelmsford Nursing Home.

This is a purpose-built facility located in a very pleasant rural location, but easily accessible from the A12 / A130 junction. As you approach the site, you could be excused for mistaking it for a country spa, and the accommodation is excellent.

The nursing and care staff are a friendly team, and we feel confident that residents are in extremely good hands. A dedicated activities team ensures that residents enjoy a range of entertainment and events, while the catering staff provide a varied and nutritious choice of meals. The cleanliness of the building and attractiveness of the grounds is a credit to the housekeeping, maintenance and gardening staff. Management is approachable and responsive to requests and suggestions.

Having considered a number of care home options, I have no doubt that Chelmsford Nursing Home is a top choice, and am very happy to be entrusting Mum's care to the team. In fact I feel lucky to have secured a place for her here.

My friend was 85 years old and suffered from Dementia as her only friend of long standing (I am her daughters Godmother) and Daughter of her friend it was left to me to help her as she had put me as next of kin. On leaving Basildon having spent six months in the mental health unit where she had deteriorated rapidly. I was asked to find her a place urgently for palliative care, Chelmsford nursing home was visited by myself and her daughters carers from a brain injury unit in Colchester and agreed this was the ideal place. She was happier in her last weeks of life there than she'd been in the year prior. I personally would love to spend my last weeks there if i needed a home.
