  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.55 for St George's Witham Nursing Home is calculated as follows:

      1. 11 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 11 Positive Reviews = 1.100 (maximum score = 1)

      3. (11 Positive Reviews ÷ 40 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.550

My mother moved to the home two years ago following repeat hospital admissions. At the time I felt she was so poorly that she was at the end of her life. However with the care and compassion in the home my mother was soon settled and her physical health rapidly improved. Two years on she is physically well and enjoying her life. Thank you to all the staff for all that they do and the way in which they do it.

My Dad was moved here for palliative care from hospital. He had been very agitated while in hospital, his demeanour changed on entering St Georges. The atmosphere was calming and happy. The staff were outstanding in their attitude care and attention, not only to my Dad but to the whole family. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I couldn't have wished for a better place for him. I give them 5 stars and would recommend this place to everyone. Many thanks to you all, keep up the good work.

My son- in-law was in the care of St Georges for the last 6 weeks of his life , all the staff looked after him with compassion and his dignity remained to the end, he could have been anyone of their relative's the way they looked after him.
My daughter and their two little boys were shown so much love and support during this difficult time, we were always welcome day or night and greeted with a hug or a shoulder should we need.
I cannot praise this wonderful home and their dedicated team enough.
Thank you

I moved Mum from anther care home to St Georges in June, because the numbers of carers in her first home was below the number needed to care for the residents, consequently the level of care they were able to give was inadequate. The contrast at St Georges was startling. The carers always work in pairs. They respond quickly to the call bell, and act with care, compassion and understanding. Having experienced two care homes with my Mum, St Georges is definitely the "Gold Standard". The activities are varied, the food is good and tasty, the facilities are excellent. You have everything you need at St Georges including caring staff, who are managed excellently.

The care my husband received here in his final weeks was more than I could of wished for. The staff and management welcomed my husband and all of us, his friends and family, as part of their family. They helped us though bad days as much as him.
In such a short time they were family to us, they are all so special to do what they do for others loved ones everyday and I cannot thank them enough. A few recommended St George's to me, saying they work in the industry and wouldn't hesitate to put a family member there.. I can understand why! xxx

My Mum lived here for 3 years. She had Parkinson's and sadly lost her mobility over the 3 years. My sister and I were so thankful to have found a place like St. Georges - good care and a professional attitude from staff at all levels. While feeling up to it, Mum loved the lunches shared with friends in the dining room, with a glass of wine. The activities programme generated a real community atmosphere and provided lots of choice, so important to keep residents engaged and having a bit of fun. Mum loved telling us all about the activities she had done and the monthly newsletter provided lots of interest for her and us. Photos taken of her at various activities are treasured by my sister and I. End of life care was thoughtful and sensitive and staff at every level were so comforting and supportive of the family in Mum's last days. There was a sense that everyone truly cared about Mum. My sister, living locally, was able to raise any issues directly with staff and managers and matters were attended to satisfactorily. The ability of family to have this dialogue with the care home is very important for the well being and understanding of the resident and helps relatives to be assured that they are doing all they can for their loved one.

Although my mother was only in St George's a short while, we found the nursing home to be light and airy and my mother had a lovely room. The staff were very caring and it was wonderful to be able to visit at any time. The nurses, were very caring, very professional, understanding and compassionate. One special carer was with my mother at the end and this gave us great comfort. Thank you for your care.

After 2 unsatisfactory care home experiences my sister went into St George's where the care she received was far superior. In the previous care home she had been in bed all the time. Over time in St. George's she was got up each day by hoist and in a wheelchair wanting to join others for lunch in the dining room and at activities (although her dementia was too far advanced to take part) She was settled and seemed comfortable. On the 3 days leading up to her death on June 26th the care and treatment she received from staff was excellent and way beyond duty and the care and support I received was excellent.

The staff at St Georges have all been very caring, friendly and professional towards my mother. It is a very homely atmosphere almost like an extended family. My mother is kept stimulated and the range of activities and outings is great. It is good for me to know my mother is safe and looked after for 24 hours a day seven days a week. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff all of them. My mothers needs are always met. I cannot recommend this nursing home highly enough.

St George's have been nursing my ninety year old mother for four years. Everything about this home is first class and in my opinion, second to none. I would not wish for my mother to be anywhere else.

A place where a home is created for anyone needing nursing care.

My mother was resident for 6 years until she passed away in June. The level of care provided was excellent and the family was always kept informed of any concerns St Georges had with Mum's health. The family was always welcomed and they provided facilities for her large family to visit her all together on birthdays. They allowed personal items to be displayed in her room to help her make it her home. The quality of care gave peace of mind to the family and everyone could visit at any time, this was very much appreciated.
