The Review Score of 9.471 for Alverstoke House is based on 12 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.671 for Alverstoke House is calculated as follows: ( (99 Excellents x 5) + (42 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 143 Ratings = 4.671

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.8 for Alverstoke House is calculated as follows:

      1. 12 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 12 Positive Reviews = 1.200 (maximum score = 1)

      3. (12 Positive Reviews ÷ 30 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.800

This was a perfect home for my mother. It allowed her to have her freedom & independence which was very important. She was also very lucky to have met a couple of dear old ladies who kept her company on her short walks and dinner time. The staff were extremely kind and caring at all times and always had the extra five minutes for a chat.
Sadly my mother has recently passed away but she was allowed to do so with great dignity & consideration which was so important to us as a family.

My mother has been a resident of Alverstoke House for almost 18 months. She is comfortable and well cared for, the home is a very friendly place and very caring. The food is good and home cooked. Residents are supplied with everything they could possibly want to make their lives comfortable and fulfilling. They are able to attend a regular church service, the home have entertainment provided. I don't live in Gosport so I have peace of mind knowing mum is well and happy.

My Aunt was in Alverstoke House for 5 years. She was blind and her physical condition gradually declined. She died in Alverstoke House in January 2015. She was well looked after and with dignity. She enjoyed her meals. It was difficult for her to join in some activities.

Although mum was only at Alverstoke House for a short time for end of life care. The change in her was tremendous in such a positive way. The care she received from the staff was outstanding in her own words "They care, They Really Care"
They made us,the family feel welcome and always had time for us and mum, no matter what time day or night. When mum had to go back to hospital for emergency treatment, the staff said "you get her back here to us, so we can look after her." As a family we feel we definitely made the right choice with Alverstoke House.

The nursing care provided has enabled my father to reduce the amount of medication he is on, and allowed us to have meaningful conversations for the first time in some 18 months. His quality of life has improved well beyond my expectations.

The staff at Alverstoke House deserve high praise for the care and attention they have shown my father.

My father, Thomas Harford was at Alverstoke House for 11 months before he sadly passed away in January 2015. He was very happy at Alverstoke House, and we were very grateful for all the support we were given during his short stay.
I will highly recommend this care home if need be. The staff were fantastic.

Mum went in to Alverstoke House for short stay, and I was very impressed with care she received. She could not fault the care and when or if the time comes mum has said she would go there to stay.

My Mother was taken ill and admitted to QA, she then came to Alverstoke House to respite care. I have never seen my Mum so well looked after and happy all her needs/preferences were met. The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Being at Alverstoke House was a good experience for my mum and she would go back if needed which was a blessing for me as her daughter.

My mum was looked after by Alverstoke House care home in her last weeks. I would just like to say how great and professional they were. They cared not just for my mum but for me and my dad too. My mum even said herself how wonderful all the staff were, they couldn't do enough to keep my mum comfortable and happy.

From time to time I initially viewed the Alverstoke House Nursing and Care Home to taking my mum and dad to visit then stay for a weeks respite care. We were all treated with kindness and respect and attention. The staff were all so friendly and understanding. This was my dads first stay in respite care and we were all a little apprehensive but everyone put us at ease and dad enjoyed his weeks break, especially the food which he loved. Thank you everyone at Alverstoke House
