Review of Ashley Lodge Residential & Nursing Home

My mother has been a resident at Ashley Lodge since April 2014. In my opinion, it must be one of the best care homes in Hampshire. It is nothing like many care homes where residents sit all day in a communal lounge watching television. Instead, Ashley Lodge looks and feels like a hotel. It even has a hotel style lounge and bar. During the day, it has an ‘open door’ policy so residents and relatives or friends can come and go as they want. Residents have their own cosy sitting rooms which are or can be furnished the way residents prefer. Most rooms, in fact, look just like the sitting rooms in residents’ previous homes but with the convenience of en-suite facilities. Residents can go to bed and get up when they want. Meals can be taken in the restaurant but most residents choose to have them served in their rooms where they can eat leisurely at their own pace while watching television, listening to the radio or chatting to their relatives. A notable feature of Ashley Lodge is the very relaxed but very professional style of management. This is reflected by the way the carers and other staff go about their duties by looking after the residents with care, kindness and energetic efficiency. They are always busy yet they always have the time to provide friendship and companionship to residents who need that extra bit of comfort and reassurance. Ashley Lodge is an example of a care home that provides a truly ‘home from home’ environment. It is also an example that on-one should be worried or hesitant about going into a care home or arranging for a relative to do so. There are excellent care homes about and all you need to do is look for one and, on that point, Ashley Lodge is one of them.

Review of Ashley Lodge Residential & Nursing Home

I can't praise Ashley Lodge Oakview enough, the whole team each and everyone of their excellent care and lovely people, I have experienced three care homes whole package there is nothing I could fault. My father is no longer there he sadly passed away in March but in the time he was there he was happy, treated with dignity and respect and all the staff gave him time and would speak to him. He was given a job as postman which made him feel valued and had a purpose, something for him to do each day if he was up to it. My mum is still there she has advanced Alzheimer's and cared for very well. I live in Hertfordshire and knowing she is well looked after gives me peace of mind and I am not worrying abut her when I'm not there. This is all due to the team of excellent staff.

Review of Ashley Lodge Residential & Nursing Home

My wife has been a resident for 5 years, post stroke paralysis down left side and dementia. She requires hoist and two helpers for all of her needs. The homes has experienced difficulty in the past at senior management levels, throughout which the staff continues to preform in a high, professional way. The senior management problem is now resolved.

A good solid staff structure offering support to families and residents at a high level. All "hands on" care staff are well trained and always ready to listen or offer advise on residents needs. If this care home was a hotel it would be 5 stars.
