The Review Score of 8.974 for Latham Lodge Nursing Home is based on 9 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.574 for Latham Lodge Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (61 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 101 Ratings = 4.574

    • Quantity Score: 5 Points are available for the number of 'Positive Reviews' for a care home / service. A Positive Review is defined as:

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.4 for Latham Lodge Nursing Home is calculated as follows:

      1. 9 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 9 Positive Reviews = 0.900

      3. (9 Positive Reviews ÷ 36 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.500

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. My Father was at Latham Lodge for almost 3 years, and both Dad & his family/visitors were looked after well & treated with kindness and courtesy, from EVERY member of staff.
Latham Lodge may not be the smartest looking Nursing Home compared to some of larger more 'hotel' looking care homes, but they have what matters in abundance. A relatively small turnover of staff, Staff who are friendly, knowledgeable, kind & who REALLY look after their residents. The staff are what makes Latham Lodge a great place for your loved one.
I have no reservations in recommending this Care Home to you. Don't be put off by the look of the place from outside or the décor within. It's clean, and the staff are the absolute heart of the place.

Dear Helen, thank you so much for taking the time to review Latham Lodge, especially at such a sad time.
Your father was a pleasure to care for and we have felt his loss keenly. The team would also like to thank you for the wonderful cupcakes and beautiful card you left; they really were appreciated and our thoughts are with you.
At Latham Lodge we take great pride in ensuring we deliver high quality care and we build our care team to ensure they are able to provide person centred care and spend valuable time with our residents.

I think all of it is very good. The care is excellent. The staff is good. I am very satisfied. The food is lovely. I am very lucky.

Latham Lodge is a lovely friendly, caring home and we know mum is happy there although she is unable to speak. The staff are supportive and sensitive to families worries and concerns, and always happy :). Our only reservation is the new set up of the lounge area since the refurbishment, it has become very unsocial with the chairs pushed up in rows facing the TV. Rather than in a circle around the room where residents could see others and interact. I know we aren't the only ones that feel this way. It's a shame as for many it's the only social space they have.

Sarah Scott, Marketing Executive at Latham Lodge Nursing Home responded to this review on 19 Aug 2015:

At Latham Lodge we take pride in listening to our residents, relatives and friends. As a result we have considered the layout of the lounge and rearranged the furniture to allow for a more sociable area with small groups of chairs and coffee tables. This now provides a more homely feel and appearance. We always welcome the opportunity to review and improve upon what we offer and hope you will continue to share your thoughts with us in the home.

The home is very good and I would recommend it to anybody. The food is good. Staff are wonderful.

When my dad was put in to nursing home Latham Lodge from hospital I was very distressed. Katia was amazing. My dad is a very difficult patient and not kind to people sometimes. The carers have tried hard and been there for me to. There is a nice feel to the home. and it was only the second one I looked at.

Obviously one doesn't look for a 'care home' until a crisis arrives with a family member and then you have a problem "is it the right one?" Unless you are recommended, you do not know the home you are placing your loved one in. Myself, sister and three brothers could not have chosen a better home. The staff from the manager down to the laundry team are fantastic. Everyone is so caring, patient and diligent. Gold stars for all!
