The resident lived most of her life in Oakley. I visited with other family members and was very impressed with all aspects of the home, taking into account also of the potential of the new facility being built.

The staff give a good quality of care and treat the residents with respect and dignity. Visiting is encouraged at ant time. Rooms are pleasant, airy and comfortable. Residents can have small items of personal furniture and photos, ornaments and treasured items to make their rooms more homely. There are many activities but residents make their choice to integrate or not.

Review of Oak Lodge Nursing Home, Basingstoke, Hampshire by Mrs K O'Neill (Grand-daughter of Resident)

When searching for nursing homes, Oak Lodge stood out as a having a homely atmosphere with friendly and caring staff. Happily these first impressions were correct. Sadly, my Nan was only a resident for a matter of months before passing away, but she was welcomed and cared for in a manner that we could not fault. Both the caring and admin staff take great pains to welcome and get to know residents and family, and to provide personalised care. It is a difficult decision to find the right nursing home for relatives, and we were very lucky to find Oak Lodge. On behalf of the whole family we wish to thank every member of staff for making Nan's final months as happy so comfortable.

Wonderful caring attitude of all staff with a very happy ambience. Superb activities program. Lovely setting, bright clear airy rooms and a variety of outdoor recreation areas set in a backdrop of 315 acres of parkland. The formal entrance of the sweeping drive could put you off thinking it is too expensive, but as things go theses days it is surprisingly reasonable once you realise how much good care costs theses days.

I am really happy with the quality if care I receive in the home. Both staff and residents are terribly nice. Matron and Jacqui (administrator) are very nice, helpful people. I have a very good room with a brilliant view. The activities are interesting; I try different things and have fun.

From the outset the staff have been very helpful and efficient. They have made my friend feel safe and cared for at all times. They provide a wide range of activities and when possible involve the families and friends of the residents.

Review of Oak Lodge Nursing Home, Basingstoke, Hampshire by Jan Dewey (Daughter of Resident)
Monday 21 May 2012
My mum visited this home every Tuesday for 11 years (her best friend) and she could not recommend it high enough. So when my mum started losing her memory (Alzheimer's), this was the home that Mum has gone to. Mum overlooks fields as do the majority of residents. Yes the care does vary a tad but overall it is excellent in all respects. The matron and her staff really do care about the residents and nothing is too much trouble. There is always some kind of good activity for all residents no matter why they are there.

Due to the care and perseverance of the staff, our Mother's health and general wellbeing have improved greatly, since moving to Oak Lodge from another local care home. The setting and grounds are beautiful and the conservatory is especially beneficial. Our Mother is joining in with all the activities and is slowly becoming a more social being again.

We looked at about 6 care homes before we visited and then chose Oak Lodge. After a short wait on the list my Mother was accepted. It was by far the best we visited. There was no unpleasant smell when entering the building, unlike some. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. Inside is nicely decorated and feels homely and comfortable. The staff are friendly and patient. There have been some great events i.e. tea parties, seasonal fetes, concerts etc.

Tuesday 8 May 2012
Both my parents are here in Oak Lodge as care in their own home was not sufficient for their needs. I looked at several nursing homes in the area and set certain standards and requirements I felt were necessary for the correct care of my parents. These were all met. As I do not live nearby it was essential to ensure my parents were/are happy and well cared for. All the staff in the nursing home, are highly professional and extremely caring and kind, even in the most difficult circumstances. The grounds in which the nursing home stands are magnificent which is a wonderful bonus. Whilst I am sad my parents are in a Nursing Home I feel they could not be in a better place for their specific needs.

Absolutely superb care. Before my mother had her stroke, she loved joining in the many activities on offer, beautiful grounds etc. Since her stroke 2 years ago the care has been second to none! Fantastic! My mother is now almost bed bound but always someone pops in to make sure she is OK and occupied as much as possible. Health care outstanding, all carers considerate. I would highly recommend this home from home.
