This Review Score of 8.851 is made up of a Quality Score of 4.475 Points (maximum of 5) relating to the rating and a Quantity Score of 4.376 Points (maximum of 5) relating to the number of positive Reviews/Recommendations.

  • The maximum Review Score for a care home / service is 10 and it is based on the published (including Restricted Publication) Reviews in the last 2 years. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

The Review Score of 8.851 for Erskine Hall Care Home is based on 16 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.475 for Erskine Hall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (97 Excellents x 5) + (74 Goods x 4) + (9 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 181 Ratings = 4.475

    • Quantity Score: 5 Points are available for the number of 'Positive Reviews' for a care home / service. A Positive Review is defined as:

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.376 for Erskine Hall Care Home is calculated as follows:

      1. 16 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 16 Positive Reviews = 1.600 (maximum score = 1)

      3. (16 Positive Reviews ÷ 85 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.376

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. There are 5 Points available for the average of all ratings on users Recommendations/Reviews (Excellent 5, Good 4, Satisfactory 3, Poor 2, Very Poor 1). My mother aged 92 was brought into Erskine Hall on 3rd March 2015. She had been in hospital for 13 weeks. She had become bedridden and doubly incontinent. Her room was clean and she was well looked after. She had a limited diet and ate only eggs for virtually every meal and yoghurt and ice cream.

Room pleasant but rather cramped. When a sacral pad needs changing can wait a long time. Facilities for daily shower appreciated. Activities appreciated, difficult to attend am sessions some members of staff less efficient than others. Gardens a pleasure. Care is helpful and night staff helpful. More numbers of staff needed throughout the working day. Is it possible to take residents on outings?

My general experience of he home is quite good. I like the idea of the programmes during the week, but found Saturday and Sundays lost days as I have few few people to visit or visit me. Staff friendly and helpful. Food is quite good and they will give you something else, if you are not able to eat it. I do like that there appears to be someone "on duty" at night.

Five years ago my mother-in-law Marjorie Bridge was in a very poor state and Mount Vernon Hospital had given up on her. We had only a few days to find a care home with vacancies. Since her admission Marjorie (or as the staff called her Maggie) has enjoyed the care and friendship of very good staff despite many changes of manager. Not good for staff and residents. Food was good, the love and care during the final weeks was superb. Indra activities manager was excellent. Final comment several managers promised outings to local places of interest, happened only in first year or so. Also difficult to get through on phone, left holding on sometimes. But overall very pleased. Thank you.

Staff

I want to say how lovely two of my key worker staff are. They look after me and care for me so much. I told the manager this and want them recommended for their care and services to me and the home.

Thank you.

Lovely, dedicated staff

The staff on my floor are absolutely amazing, they go that extra mile and have helped me so much.

Today we had a special service for Rememberence Day and the manager and team were all so respectful with the residents. So good to see.

Three years of good care

My mother just had her 94th birthday, she has been bedridden in this care home since admission over three years ago. Her survival is entirely due to the excellent care she has been given by many good people.

The staff at Erskine Hall, from David Parry down, were absolutely wonderful. They cared for my mother just as if she were their own beloved parent. We couldn't ask for any more than that.

My mother resided here when she became to frail to cope at home. The trauma of this upheaval melted away with the warmth and care she received here. On the first floor she was always squeeky clean, enjoying chats with carers, nurses, cleaners and fellow residents. In an often cruel world it was uplifting to walk into an atmosphere of goodness and kindness.

David Parry, relief manager has had a profound effect on Erskine Hall in the three months he's been here. He should be allowed to take on the permanent role of full time manager in order that Erskine Hall continues to flourish and become a flagship Nursing Home for Bupa.
