General description

Firtree House is an attractive property that was sympathetically converted and extended into a care home in 1960, since its conversion the home has undergone a major refurbishment plan and now provides an attractive, safe and stable environment in which staff and residents are actively involved in the day to day decision making of the home.

This attractive period property provides a choice of single or companion bedrooms, many of which have en-suite facilities. All bedrooms are individually decorated and comfortably furnished, and residents are welcome to personalise their rooms with the addition of personal mementos and small pieces of furniture to ease the transition of the move into a care home.

The care that we offer is both flexible and comprehensive, with a strong focus on delivering “person centred care” to each individual. To this end, either prior to or on admission in emergency cases, we conduct a full needs assessment of each individual to ensure that we are able to meet their needs. The assessment process takes on an holistic approach and identifies the very specific needs of an individual enabling us to draw up an effective tailored care plan designed at maximizing quality of life. A care plan is a guide to the way that an individual wishes to receive their care, ensuring that their personal wishes and beliefs are upheld and that they are treated in a dignified manner with respect and privacy at all times, care plans also report on the care that an individual has received on a daily basis, and is updated as a persons needs change, ensuring that at all times a resident receives appropriate care that is as “seamless” as possible.

The care that we provide is delivered by trained nurses and care assistants who support residents with personal and care related tasks throughout 24 hours a day. Firtree House is committed to staff training, and each member of our nursing and care team has a training and development package in place, which is designed to increase their skills and to keep their practices up to date and relevant to the residents in their care.

Life at Firtree offers variety and promotes independence. Our aim is to provide an environment where residents are treated with dignity, have the respect of those who support them and be entitled to live full and active lives. The purpose of our home is to enable residents to achieve their full potential, through a process of support, encouragement and understanding.

If you are looking for a quality assured care home for yourself, a friend or family member, please contact our home manager Katie Brewster for further information or to arrange a viewing.
