Abbeycrest Care Home is located in the quiet village of Sonning Common, in the heart of the Chilterns and is one of Caring Homes’ newest homes, offering exceptional residential, nursing and specialist dementia care.

Abbeycrest provides residents with a true Care Pathway by offering a full suite of residential, nursing and dedicated dementia care. As such, residents may rest safe in the knowledge that the home can cater for their care needs both now and in the future.

Abbeycrest Care Home’s dementia care provision has been designed to meet the University of Stirling’s standards, which are widely acknowledged as providing the best living environment for people living with dementia. Stirling’s Dementia Services Development Centre is renowned as the world leader in this field. The Stirling approach ensures that residents are able to move freely around the home, with bedrooms and communal areas appropriately laid out and clearly signposted to minimise confusion or disorientation. Each bedroom features a memory box by its front door, where mementos from a resident’s life help to personalise their room and also remind staff and visitors of the individual’s life story.

The home offers a full range of residential, nursing and specialist dementia support, including trial stays, respite breaks and convalescent care as well as long term care. Residents are encouraged to bring important personal possessions to personalise their rooms. Abbeycrest operates an open visiting policy, where residents and loved ones may visit at convenient times. In common with all their homes, Abbeycrest’s manager has a qualified nursing background.

The home is fully registered with the Care Quality Commission and has ISO9001/2000 and Hospitality Assured accreditation.

The care home always looks fresh and clean, with fresh flowers in the lounges. It is always nice and light and bright and smells nice. My mother has been at Abbeycrest for 6 months now and has been well looked after by the medical staff and has had her medications sorted out. My mother has settled in well and has a lovely room with her own furniture. She enjoys taking part in the activities.

We were very impressed when we visited the home, especially with the quality of life provided for the residents. Initially, my aunt was greatly stimulated by social events and activities and interactions with other residents. Later as her condition deteriorated everything possible was done to make her as comfortable as she could be.

This is a friendly and clean care home. Some of the staff go above and beyond. Some could do with more training, and respond to alarms more quickly. The location is lovely, with pretty views. Rooms are a good size, with plenty of room for visitors to sit comfortably.

Very kind, caring staff. Most friendly, welcoming environment. Well-informed about my mother's condition, needs etc. The home is very clean and well maintained and has a "hotel" atmosphere rather than a care home.

Abbeycrest Care Home

I would thoroughly recommend the Abbeycrest care home for the following reasons: - The staff at all levels are very attentive and caring for both residents and their families. - Both the nursing and general care are of a very high standard. - The accommodation is of an equally high standard with the individual rooms maintained to make the resident feel very much at home. - The communication links within the room, from the normal call buttons, to direct dial phone, and high speed internet connection enabling video Skype calls around the world from the resident's bed!

I left home to live at Abbeycrest. I have waited for a vacancy because I do not want to go to any other home apart from Abbeycrest. Now that I am here, I enjoy staying at Abbeycrest. I have no regret leaving my home.

The project sponsors underprivileged school children to achieve secondary education qualifications, thus enabling them to have better life prospects.
