The Review Score of 9.121 for The Headington Care Home is based on 10 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.788 for The Headington Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (93 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 118 Ratings = 4.788

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.333 for The Headington Care Home is calculated as follows:

      1. 10 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 10 Positive Reviews = 1.000

      3. (10 Positive Reviews ÷ 60 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.333

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. There are 5 Points available for the average of all ratings on users Recommendations/Reviews (Excellent 5, Good 4, Satisfactory 3, Poor 2, Very Poor 1). The staff looked after my cousin for many years in a safe environment. Especially throughout his last days he was treated with dignity. His children and the rest of the family were allowed the time and space to spend quality time with him. The staff we were in regular contact with were exceptional, including the coordinator, the staff nurse and another staff member for her support and understanding.

The carers at The Headington Care Home always go the extra mile and it is obvious that they really do care for and understand the needs of all the residents. My father had been in a number of homes before arriving at The Headington Care Home and it is such a relief to know that he is well cared for in a clean and welcoming environment, where the staff are always cheerful and attentive.

My father was admitted to the Headington Care Home after his behaviour deteriorated. At his previous establishments he had been heavily sedated and was listless and unable to communicate. Since he has been at Headington his life has been transformed - though still very ill with advanced dementia he is animated, laughs and smiles and is demonstrably happy. This is due almost entirely to the quality of care he has received which has been nothing short of exceptional in every respect.

My mother has been a resident at this care home for 2 years now, and I couldn't be happier for the kindness and support they give me, and the care all the staff give my mum. She is respected and helped 24/7 by all these wonderful people in the home. This is why I put them forward for the "rock award" and they are receiving this soon as they won this award.
I am happy for them and so grateful for their support and the care for the rest of my mum's life, comfortably and safely as I would give it myself if it were possible. I think they deserve medals and recognition for their efforts every day. xxxx

My late husband and I were recommended to Headington Care Home by a consultant of our local hospital. He stayed there for three years until his death on the 8th of June 2012. He was lovingly cared for in every possible way - every day beautifully shaved and in clean clothes. He was helped with his meals and when he could no longer chew - his food was liquidised. All his visitors were well treated - coffee or tea was always offered. I feel so very fortunate to find such a wonderful care home. I remain a visitor to one of my close friends in The Headington Care Home and visit every 2 weeks.

My husband was in an advanced state of dementia when he was moved to Headington Care Home. He was unable to walk, speak and was incontinent. He has received superlative treatment as his condition has advanced. He is now unconscious most of the time, does not recognise people and appears unable to see if he opens his eyes. The staff still get him dressed and take him to the lounge each day. They are very quick to spot any redness of the skin which might develop into a sore and treat for prevention immediately. I have recommended the home to a number of people and Young Dementia UK, who in turn are now recommending the home to potential new residents and their families.

Since my husband has been at Headington, he is spotlessly clean, as is his room and other parts of the home, and more importantly he is very well looked after. Fantastic and very caring staff.

My husband has always been cared for to the highest degree. He is treated with great dignity and nothing is too much trouble. I have been treated as part of the family and I have always been consulted about anything connected to my husband. I am rung up at home if my husband has had a fall or been feeling unwell or anything, I should know about straight away. I cannot praise the entire staff enough and I feel confident he is being well looked after at all times.
