Care/Staffing As clearly stated in their Residents' Charter, Buxton Lodge aims to provide the best possible care within a friendly and non-institutionalised atmosphere. A high staff : patient ratio and special emphasis on staff training ensures not only excellent professional nursing care, but also allows adequate time to be spent on personal care and social interaction. Individual Care Plans are produced with the assistance of the Resident and/or Relatives, and are constantly updated by Matron and her dedicated team of nurses. Physiotherapy and Chiropody are included within the fee structure as is all personal laundry, incontinence aids, and basic toiletries. Buxton Lodge is frequently complimented on the variety and quality of its cuisine. Complimentary drinks are offered to Residents who enjoy the occasional drink of wine or sherry. A full time maintenance engineer and team of cleaners ensure that the Home and grounds are kept both safe and clean. Facilities Most of the rooms are single with en-suite cloakrooms, and all have colour televisions, telephone points, and nurse call buttons. All rooms are arranged on two floors served by two lifts and wide corridors. Buxton Lodge owns all necessary medical equipment including a variety of hoists , hydrojet baths, specialised beds and pressure relieving mattresses. An ambubus with wheelchair lift is used for outings and drives in the country. Visiting entertainers and mobile shops are frequently invited, and a regular programme of occupational and recreational therapy are all included within the fees. Location Buxton Lodge is located in a quiet residential area of Caterham on the Hill with easy transport links. The building is mainly Victorian with a large purpose built wing constructed in 1993, and is set in attractive level gardens with large patios and koi pool. Ownership/Registration The Home has been privately owned and managed since 1986, and is registered by East Surrey Health Authorityfor the acute and continuing care of the elderly. It welcomes both long and short stay Residents, and is one of the few nursing homes in Surrey to have specific registration for the care of the terminally ill. A member of the Registered Nursing Homes Association, the management and staff are justly proud of the excellent reputation the Home has always enjoyed. |
