Coppice Lea Care Home with Nursing is conveniently situated near the M25, and the towns of Reigate and Redhill, Coppice Lea is close to the attractive villages of Merstham and Bletchingly. London is just half an hour away by train Coppice Lea is registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide both short and long term care to elderly people who require residential or nursing care.

Coppice Lea is situated beneath the Surrey Downs and is set in five acres of landscaped and wooded grounds.

This Victorian house was originally built in the 1880s and has been beautifully refurbished and extended to provide fifty nursing beds.

All bedrooms are of a pleasant size and afford splendid rural views, they have attractive en-suite facilities, colour television and direct dial telephones. All bedrooms are equipped with the latest nurse call system.

An experienced and qualified care and nursing team deliver care through individualised care plans which are designed in consultation with the individual resident, their family / advocates and a senior member of the nursing team. Care plans are regularly reviewed to ensure that they remain appropriate to a resident throughout their stay with us, ensuring they are adjusted through a person’s changing needs.

Life at Coppice Lea is varied and interesting; they have a dedicated Activities Coordinator who ensures that there is a wide range of activities available. Visits to local places of interest are regularly organised. Speakers are invited to give talks on a variety of topics. Bridge is popular, and residents are encouraged to partake in both craft activities and for those who are “green fingered” gardening is always an option.

Although I have put "Good" for most of the options below there have been times when some have dropped below that but equally sometimes things have been excellent. Individual members of staff in particular have been outstanding and to see so many at Dad's funeral and that they were genuinely upset at his passing, not just representing the Home, was very touching. He had very much become part of the community.

Job Title: Home Manager

Description:

Meera Govindapillai has recently started as the new Home Manager at our Coppice Lea care home in Merstham, Surrey.

She is a qualified nurse with 18 years’ experience in the National Health Service (NHS) and private care homes, as well as in the teaching sector. Meera has completed graduate and post-graduate training in nursing, a Registers Managers award and Leadership in Dementia qualification.

Meera started her career as an Assistant Lecturer in India in 1997 before joining the NHS in the UK as a Junior Sister for the Care of the elderly on an acute medical ward. She then joined a BUPA nursing home as Deputy Manager before becoming Home Manager for a nursing home in Guildford.

Meera served as a General Manager across three care homes in 2008, including one residential and two nursing homes; in this capacity, Meera was a finalist in the Registered Manager category of the 2014 Great British Care Awards for the South East Region.

Meera lives in Guildford with her daughter and says of her role: “I am very much enjoying my new role as the manager of Coppice Lea Care Home. I am and always have been very passionate about my job, and will work with staff and residents to achieve the best for our home from the ability and personal skills that I bring to Coppice Lea.”
