Rectory House Nursing Home is a beautifully preserved historic building with a Georgian style frontage and inviting driveway lined with oak, pine and chestnut trees. The main part of the house was built in 1785, but the original part of the building dates back to the 1580's. The house has been refurbished but still retains the gracious features of the past - high ceilings and attractive ornate cornices. The two-acre mature landscaped gardens are perfect for residents to either relax or convalesce.
The main aspect of the house faces South with all of the rooms having en suite facilities and emergency nurse-call systems. Residents can also bring items of personal furniture, momento's and other treasures - all helping them to feel that Rectory House is their real 'Home from Home.' There are two beautifully appointed lounges where residents can relax, read a book or socialise. The conservatory with views over the garden is another place where residents can enjoy quiet moments.
Caring and qualified staff are on hand 24 hours a day ensuring that all resident's needs are catered for. Regular weekly physiotherapy sessions are held and local Doctors, Chiropodists, Dentist, Optician, Hairdressers as well as Clergy of all denominations make visits.

Mother found a home at Rectory House after living by herself and trying to cope with increasing frailty. She settled down very well with the 24/7 support and care. She has now been there for over three years in relative good health and contentment for her years.

My mum has just moved into Rectory House from a long stay in hospital, what could have been a traumatic and frightening experience was made such a pleasure by all at Rectory House. It was an easy transition smoothed by excellent staff who were caring, reassuring, informative and generous of their time to make it a happy process.

I made a really good choice. Unfortunately I have continued to have acquired terminal cancer and I'm becoming less independent slowly. To prevent any negatives I decided to be positive and contacted Rectory House, Sompting. Nice staff trained to a high standard, beautiful Georgian building (eat your heart out Darcy and Ms Bennett) great food, safety, happy move, cost, looking no further than under my nose.

I am pleased that my mother resides at Rectory House. The staff are extremely caring and it’s good to see the same faces when visiting. The home is very clean and always without unpleasant smells. The furnishing standards are high, nothing is tatty. Rectory House is a very good example of a well-run nursing home with high standards.

We feel fortunate to have found Rectory House for our mother (my mother-in-law) and she is very happy there. The standards are high there. It doesn't smell of old people, as some homes do. The food is very good and the staff are excellent in their caring. Rectory House is a good example of how all the care homes in this country should be.

I have lived at Rectory House for 10 years and I love it here. I was a keen gardener and the garden is lovely. I cannot manage to do any now but love to watch the gardeners. The staff are kind and are my friends.

The home is lovely and so are all the staff. They always have a smile ready for you and treat you like human beings. The food is delicious and plentiful - After spending 7 months in a hospital this place has given me back my sanity and I am very grateful!

My father moved to Rectory House and was given only a few weeks to live. With the outstanding care and re-habilitation my father is enjoying a quality of life we never thought he would see again. Dad enjoys all the activities made available to everyone. The social stimulation and genuine care of the staff at Rectory House is outstanding. Dad loves his food and this again is cooked and prepared fresh each day. A big thank you to the whole team at Rectory House who always make us feel welcome.

Rectory House treat with care all who stay there, all are treated with respect. They provide good food, if needed special diets and vegetarian. The jobs are very challenging. It’s a good feeling knowing that the family don't worry. Staff are great with people. I have been going to Rectory for 5 years, and found the staffs always greet you with a cup of tea. I find staff take the people out, and also have someone who calls in with owls.

Review of Rectory House Nursing Home, Lancing, West Sussex by A H (Brother-in-law of Resident)

My sister-in-law went into Rectory House with my terminally ill brother over a year ago and following his death she has stayed there. 'This is your home now and we are your family', said the manager kindly, and so it has proved to be. J has loving care from kind friendly staff, a lovely room opening onto the garden where she sits out most sunny days, good home cooked food and entertainment, while the house itself is clean, odour free and welcoming. J has also appreciated the kind visits by the local (lady) vicar. Importance is placed on the individual's dignity and on personal appearance. J enjoys her weekly hairdressing appointments. Her mobility has improved at RH so she was able to travel to North Wales recently to scatter her late husband's ashes with the excellent support of the home manager. I would happily recommend Rectory House.

Relaxed friendly atmosphere. Good food, good nursing, approachable staff. Lovely grounds, great excercise classes, good entertainment for residents. Also appreciated is the offer of hairdressing, chiropody and holy communion, and summer outings to sea front and local garden centres.

My 77 year old wife/mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer last June. From the moment she entered Rectory House the staff made her comfortable and happy. They looked after us, her family, like their own and we were always kept informed. They truly made the last precious weeks and days special and carried out our wishes until and after her death, when her own nurse dressed her to our instructions.

Mum was in this care home (Sept 09-Aug 10) and I can honestly say she was well looked after. She had a lovely clean room. The staff were all so kind to Mum who suffered with Alzheimer's. Visitors were always made to feel welcome. Mum was always helped to join in with activities and loved the music sessions. There was never an unpleasant smell in the home. Since mum's death my dad still visits this home frequently to help with activities and to visit residents. He has been made so welcome and wanted, which has really helped him grieving. I would thoroughly recommend Rectory House.
