Rectory House Nursing Home is a beautifully preserved historic building with a Georgian style frontage and inviting driveway lined with oak, pine and chestnut trees. The main part of the house was built in 1785, but the original part of the building dates back to the 1580's. The house has been refurbished but still retains the gracious features of the past - high ceilings and attractive ornate cornices. The two-acre mature landscaped gardens are perfect for residents to either relax or convalesce.

The main aspect of the house faces South with all of the rooms having en suite facilities and emergency nurse-call systems. Residents can also bring items of personal furniture, momento's and other treasures - all helping them to feel that Rectory House is their real 'Home from Home.' There are two beautifully appointed lounges where residents can relax, read a book or socialise. The conservatory with views over the garden is another place where residents can enjoy quiet moments.

Caring and qualified staff are on hand 24 hours a day ensuring that all resident's needs are catered for. Regular weekly physiotherapy sessions are held and local Doctors, Chiropodists, Dentist, Optician, Hairdressers as well as Clergy of all denominations make visits.

For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 3.85 for Rectory House Nursing Home is calculated as follows:

      1. 6 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 6 Positive Reviews = 0.600

      3. (6 Positive Reviews ÷ 48 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.250

My mother is currently a resident at Rectory House. She is nearing the end of her life, having spent seven weeks in hospital and six years prior to this in another care home. Rectory House is exceptional and I have plenty of experience with our care providers that are not!. The manageress is always available, helpful and jolly and very caring. All the staff are purposeful, happy and loving towards the residents and their families. The old building is warm, comfortable and exudes a relaxing aura, with beautiful outdoor areas, moreover it is safe, secure with good food. I highly recommend Rectory House.

Thank you to all at Rectory House for the professionalism, compassion, & total dedication of each & every member of the team for the care given to my father since he moved in last December. I know that Dad can be extremely difficult & I admire the patience shown by all. Rectory House has alleviated the heartache we, his family, felt trying to find a home good enough & within our budget for Dad, & believe me, we visited many homes in our search. The Manger made the transition from a ‘less than satisfactory’ care home to Rectory House easy. Dad soon became more settled & thrived on regular meals & proper administration of medication. When it comes to care for elderly & needy, there is no ‘one size fits all’. Rectory House really do cater to every character, temperament, & palate. The atmosphere, the facilities, the accommodation & the general ambience of Rectory House is friendly & homely–it could not be more different to all the negative programmes about care homes seen on TV.

As I am only there for 2 hours and my old friend will not take part in any activities. I cannot give a complete recommendation but have always felt welcome and they have plenty of friendly staff around, all parts of the home are very clean (no smells).
