The Review Score of 8.226 for Amberley Hall Care Home is based on 7 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.513 for Amberley Hall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (60 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (4 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 76 Ratings = 4.513

    • Quantity Score: 5 Points are available for the number of 'Positive Reviews' for a care home / service. A Positive Review is defined as:

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 3.713 for Amberley Hall Care Home is calculated as follows:

      1. 6 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 6 Positive Reviews = 0.600

      3. (6 Positive Reviews ÷ 106 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.113

My father was a resident here for 14 months. The home was going through a change of ownership at the time and the administration/management was very poor. We were never kept informed about anything and had to keep asking questions about medication and never had a review of my father the whole time he was there. As a family we became very concerned with the care when we often found dad in a soiled bed and on occasions wearing nothing but a T-shirt and pants. A lot of his clothes went missing and the residents were often left alone in the main lounge while the 'care' team were all chatting together in other areas. Overall there was a 'can't be bothered' attitude, I think the carers were too young, they had no empathy with old people. We have since moved dad to an excellent care home where the difference is amazing. The cost of this home, being in a small town in Norfolk, is far too high for that area of the country. My father is now on the outskirts of London and the cost is virtually the same.

My experience at Amberley Hall is somewhat wonderful. The staff in all stages of work are the most reliable and friendly one could ever imagine. The hard work they all do for everyone is remarkable. I can only describe it all as being like belonging to a large busy happy family doing their very best to all concerned. The environment is superb very clean and attractive. My words don't seem enough just to say Thank you, but I am so grateful for all the professional help that has been given to me. Many thanks for everything to all!!

Our grandfather was only at Amberley Hall for a short time as he was very poorly. The staff were I can only say "amazing". They treated him with dignity and respect and throughout his time there, they were constantly in touch with his progress. Even right up until his passing the staff continued to not only look after him but us as a family as well. All the staff we spoke to from the reception team even from the maintenance team and care nurses were truly 5 star. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts we will be forever in your debt.

Following my breakdown, I was advised to put my reluctant parents into respite. Nobody was interesting helping me with this as they are self funding. My son and I had visited Amberley previously so rang and within 2 days we took them there. Wow! They were warmly welcomed by the manager and staff, shown their rooms, given lunch and introduced to the residents. The staff went out of their way to help mum and dad, they even asked to stay an extra week. Superb on all levels.

My husband has been here almost eight years. I cannot fault the care he has received throughout his stay. The home is always clean and sweet smelling. The staff, from manager downwards are all helpful, friendly, hardworking and welcoming. I always recommend Amberley to anyone considering a nursing home as a good place to be. My husband is always treated with respect and dignity and the staff are always willing to listen to any concerns I might have, we work together.
