Oak Manor Nursing Home welcomes older people with residential and nursing needs and a diagnosis of dementia, making the most of peaceful village settings.

The home, which comprises both a sensitively converted original building and a purpose-built extension, has a range of dedicated facilities and activities for people living with dementia. These include a beautiful, courtyard garden and specialist sensory activities, where highly trained staff work with residents on activities designed to stimulate positive memories and feelings.

Oak Manor has been designed to meet the University of Stirling’s universally respected dementia care standards. The Stirling approach ensures that residents are able to move freely around the home, with bedrooms and communal areas appropriately laid out and clearly signposted to minimise confusion.

Oak Manor is ideally equipped to provide residential support for elderly people living with different types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and Korsacoff’s syndrome. However, staff never lose sight of the fact that, first and foremost, Oak Manor is home to residents. The home has a light, airy and welcoming ambience and residents benefit from a broad and thoroughly enjoyable range of activities.

Reviews

7.5 Oak Manor Nursing Home has a Review Score of 7.5 (7.485)

The Review Score of 7.5 (maximum of 10) for Oak Manor Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4 out of 5 from 4 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Oak Manor Nursing Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.071 for Oak Manor Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (14 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 42 Ratings = 4.071

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered beds. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered beds has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

The 3.414 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oak Manor Nursing Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 = 3.25

    2. Target of 12.2 positive Reviews (61 registered beds ÷ 5). 2 Reviews ÷ 12.2 Target = 0.164

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

After a disastrous stay at another place, my mother was moved to Oak Manor Nursing Home with trepidation. However, in only a few weeks there she is being looked after properly and her moment's of Alzheimer's anxiety have disappeared. My thanks to the manager and all the staff working there.

Thank you for your kind remarks. At Oak Manor we take great pride in ensuring we deliver high quality care and facilities and are pleased your mother is doing so well, it's nice to know we make families happy and the residents comfortable. We always welcome the chance to improve, and are currently reviewing opportunities for refurbishment and renovation in the home. We welcome the opportunity to improve, and hope you will continue to share your thoughts with us in the home in future.

Our first visit to see dad was a good experience for my 2 young children and I. Dad was feeding himself, well monitored, clean and in a communal room with appropriate music for the age of the residents and kind, helpful staff. Dad took us for a tour and I shaved him as he had quite a beard but I understand he had been difficult about being shaved. The kids were given ice-cream and although some residents worried them, the majority were ok. Dad was happy when we left and we enjoyed our visit and didn't feel sad leaving him there even though it wasn't home. Gardens and rooms would benefit attention.

Care in this home has deteriorated significantly. Fabric of building is also in need of repair. Roof in main lounge has been leaking for over 6 weeks. No progress. Have asked for complaints form and told "we don't have any".

Thank you for taking the time to review Oak Manor Nursing Home, we really appreciate your feedback. At Oak Manor we take great pride in ensuring we deliver high quality care and facilities. We are fully supportive, but unfortunately totally reliant on the weather conditions and availability of our contractors. However, the roof has since been fixed. Caring Homes have a stringent complaints policy which can be discussed with me further if required. We welcome the opportunity to improve, and hope you will continue to share your thoughts with us in the home in future.
