The Review Score of 9.520 for Sanford House Nursing Home is based on 15 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. (Please note that the ratings of Very Poor and Poor have only been available since the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015.)

      The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.77 for Sanford House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (137 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 174 Ratings = 4.77

    • Quantity Score: 5 Points are available for the number of 'Positive Reviews' for a care home / service. A Positive Review is defined as:

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 4.75 for Sanford House Nursing Home is calculated as follows:

      1. 15 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 15 Positive Reviews = 1.500 (maximum score = 1)

      3. (15 Positive Reviews ÷ 40 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.750

  • The Review Score is based on user Recommendations/Reviews submitted in the last 2 years. The maximum Review Score is 10. There are 5 Points available for the average of all ratings on users Recommendations/Reviews (Excellent 5, Good 4, Satisfactory 3, Poor 2, Very Poor 1). The staff take the time to get to know all the residents. After realising that my mum loves singing they often have the CD player on with music my mum loves. They have also learned the words of my mum's favourite songs as this is a way to calm my mum down. If they start singing she joins in and her mood improves. They also listen to the information I give to enable them to better care for my mum, for example, how to get her to take a bath. The staff are very caring and friendly which helps all residents.

The security system as you arrive or leave seems to be very good. Any staff around when you arrive are always friendly and helpful. MY cousin gets on well with all the staff. Her room is always clean and tidy, the times I've been there. Have heard the entertainment sometimes, and the residents seem to have been enjoying it. My cousin rarely complains about the food, she gets the care and support she needs.

My wife has only been here since September 2014, during that time she has received excellent care and attention. All the staff are kind and caring, great effort had been made to make Christmas a special occasion by everyone. It is a great comfort after seeing her every afternoon to go home and know that she will be cared for without doubt. I would therefore like to thank all concerned.
