The Review Score of 8.278 for Mill Lane Nursing and Residential Home is based on 3 Reviews/Recommendations in the last 2 years.

  • The Review Score (maximum of 10) is made up of a Quality Score (maximum of 5) and Quantity Score (maximum of 5):

    • Quality Score: 5 Points are available for the average rating. For each review the care home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The care home / service receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating. The Quality Score (average rating) of 4.778 for Mill Lane Nursing and Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (28 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.778

      • Any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

      • Any Recommendation. Before the change from Recommendations to Reviews on 7th July 2015 all feedback was limited to Recommendations (ie positive comments only)

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

      1. 3 points for receiving the first Positive Review.

      2. 0.1 Point per Positive Review, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. (ie a care home / service requires 10 Positive Reviews to receive the maximum score of 1 point.)

      3. (Number of Positive Reviews ÷ number of registered beds) x 2, up to a maximum score of 1 Point. ie a care home / service has to receive a number of Positive Reviews equal to half of the number of registered beds to obtain the maximum score of 1 point. eg a care home / service with 40 registered beds has to receive 20 Positive Reviews to obtain the maximum score of 1 point.

(For Adult Day Care Centres and Extra Care Housing which do not have a registered number of beds, 1) and 2) are replaced by the formula of 0.2 points per Review, up to a maximum score of 2 points. ie a listing needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 2 points

The Quantity Score of 3.5 for Mill Lane Nursing and Residential Home is calculated as follows:

      1. 3 Positive Reviews = 3

      2. 0.1 x 3 Positive Reviews = 0.300

      3. (3 Positive Reviews ÷ 30 Registered Beds) x 2 = 0.200

My mum was a resident at Mill Lane for four and a half years until her passing last week. Staff were always friendly and we were greeted with a smile. Mum was very well looked after and had several of the staff as friends. Mill Lane is a small home so the atmosphere is more homely. I have been very happy with the care mum received and was glad to think she was in a safe environment.

My 96 year old mother has been at Mill Lane for approximately 18 months and during this time has deteriorated in health and mobility but has had the help, support and care of good staff. At this moment they are, I believe, excellent, (which includes everyone connected with Mill Lane) working as a team with good humour and showing great care and respect to all the residents, which is lovely to observe. Of course there may be problems at times, but the management is approachable, listens and takes action if necessary.

I find the staff very helpful and very good. I only came for 2 weeks but never went home because i liked everything i saw and asked if i could stay for good. My room always looks nice. If i ask for anything to be done it is always done that day. I am contented and have no complaints.
